NO! @ABDanielleSmith has been told this time and again! @LukaszukAB *specifically* chose the option allowing for the issue to be settled in the Legislature and she didn't even bother trying to do that. She then changed the legislation to allow a pro-separation petition.

Huh. Premier Smith claims the 450K people who signed the Forever Canada petition wanted a sovereignty referendum put to voters. Adds that @LukaszukAB has changed his mind and now wants a legislative pathway instead of a referendum.

@YukonStrong their latest ploy is pretending that a referendum isn't happening 😂 they have been screeching about it for weeks on end, and all the sudden they are like "what separation question is included in the referenda?" as if this the first they are hearing of it

@Steppelord445 @SerenaCMah @ForCanMVMT @LukaszukAB Yeah you no thanks. But now you've outed yourself as the type of person who would suggest that someone in a toxic marriage who has been abused and cheated on for decades should just go to marriage counselling or have another kid to save the marriage

I have an extreme distaste for Mark Carney as a person, as a politician and most specifically as PM. Guess what, that opinion doesn't make me a traitor. The Liberal voter and partisan penchant for throwing around serious insults is one of the reasons I left the Liberal Party in 2017. The lack of critical thinking and ability to disagree is disturbing. Carney cannot be trusted.

Actually I think its a very appropriate analogy. There has been a ridiculous amount of both abuse and cheating, for many decades. Ottawa leeches off our industry, takes our equalization billions, then kills our pipelines and energy projects whenever they feel like it. Look at the mountain of Liberal cabinet fraud & corruption scandals. We’ve tried "mending" for decades. Its time to end the one way relationship.

I've said it countless times:another four years of a Liberal government could end the Canadian federation. Alberta's independence movement is just starting, and Quebec may soon elect a sovereigntist party. Two cracks in the system. Let's go AB, let's go Quebec. Feds always the prob

The problem is, no matter what outcome he prefers now, the application he submitted is still binding. People signed the terms written on the application, and those terms indicated a referendum vote. I very well understand that democracy is a reflection of the will of the people. Which is why I am adamant that the people must have an opportunity to vote.

@DanielMacl1n @davek682 @ABJeffBerube @gilmcgowan It's been the outcome he has claimed that he prefers that I've personally heard him state on multiple occasions, starting from before the campaign even began. 🤷‍♀️ And you do realize that democracy is a reflection of the will of the majority, don't you?

Wow. This is a lie. I remember being surprised when Lukazsuk said the petition called for a vote in the Legislature and not a referendum. So, I checked the legislation and Lukazsuk’s actual application. Sure enough, that’s what he was asking for. The Premier is a shameless liar.

these are all valid things to discuss, but they are simply excuses for why Alberta "can't" become independent, not why Alberta benefits from staying in Canada. there are nations with economies far smaller than Alberta's who have no problem administering all of the services you listed

@Steppelord445 @SerenaCMah @ForCanMVMT @LukaszukAB Ottawa’s admin state is already bleeding us for a net $20-28B every year. Retaining 100% of our GST, EI & income taxes easily covers replacing federal services ($23-31B) Plenty of comparable nations to use as realistic examples, i.e. Norway

No, i'm saying that your argument: "a majority isn't in support of it (according to polls) so I think that we should unravel to the process which would facilitate this referendum" is weak and highly undemocratic. supporting lukaszuk's bait and switch to avoid a referendum is undemocratic.

@DanielMacl1n @davek682 @ABJeffBerube @gilmcgowan The first thing you need in order to separate is a majority. Even using your figures, you're a long way short of that. You're basically saying that a minority should have the power to inflict more economic pain on the majority so they can have a referendum that they can't win.

So we have conceded that economically its tough to argue with. Were making progress. Now, patriotism? Almost everything that once made Canada great is gone. The country that Albertans were once patriotic to be a part of no longer exists. The real patriots of past decades want Alberta to be closer to what Canada once was.

@Steppelord445 @SerenaCMah @ForCanMVMT @LukaszukAB I think you are overestimating the proportions of: a) the cost to buy back airports and infrastructure from Ottawa b) the money which Alberta would have in you removed equalization payments and removed artificial supression of energy/exports B dwarfs A.

@Steppelord445 @SerenaCMah @ForCanMVMT @LukaszukAB tariffed by who? the Americans who make up 90% of our exports? as things stand, canada is being charged ~3% tariffs by the US, yet alberta is paying 0% tariffs on energy. also where are getting this insane notion that our administrative state will cost 10s of billions?

@shadowbanevader @grok @Veteran4Freedom I think this may be a reading comprehension issue. The tweet you are referring to about communism is about Carney's newest trading partner and strategic ally - the Chinese Communist Party. That relationship is pretty public at this point.

BC’s Eby Exodus is real. One man pulled in quickly after spotting our pop-up and signed the #AlbertaIndependence he had only just received his land title & AB driver’s license. He had a lot to say, taxes, school curriculum, property rights…. Welcome to the ‘Promise Land.’

BC Tidewater? Ottawa has blocked every Alberta pipeline to it for decades. Independence means WE decide pipelines, routes, and exports (no more federal sabotage). We already ship 90% to the US. Keeping our billions in equalization + full control beats subsidizing a dying Canada.
