This is an insane list of speakers & attendees Professors (UCSF, Stanford, Arc, UW), investors (Lux, Menlo, KV, Dimension), VP+ at big pharma (GNE, Roche, Gilead, Abbvie, BMS, Novartis), and founders at the top AI for science companies... Unlock2026 is going to be sick.

A comprehensive talk on a very challenging topic. Thinking of two things: 1. Shall we skip structure and focus on function 2. Shall we focus on designing and optimising a single RNA family, ie, tRNAs btw, glad to see RiNALMo and AI4NA in the overview :)
Rishabh Anand@rishabh16_

Recently gave a talk at @FlagshipPioneer on how far we've come in AI methods for RNA design, and where the field is potentially heading. Shared a similar (shorter) version with Rhiju Das' group at Stanford BioE this summer. Lots of fun convos thereafter 🤔 The talk contains some "bets" on where I think we're heading, and what *might* work. More than happy to be proven wrong ;) Slides in the thread👇🏻

AI × Bio Is Moving Fast — Don’t Get Left Behind. AI is transforming biology faster than ever; from foundation models that decode proteins and RNA, to intelligent systems designing new materials, medicines, and sustainable biomanufacturing processes. SynBioBeta is where the world’s leading researchers, investors, and builders in AI and biology will gather to define where this convergence goes next. If you’re working at the intersection of data, biology, or machine learning, this is where the critical conversations, partnerships, and breakthroughs are happening. From multimodal models that connect sequence to function to intelligent therapeutics that learn and adapt, AI is rewriting the rules of biology. If you’re not part of this conversation, you’re already behind. 🎟️ Save on tickets before prices increase on Friday October 31! Book before friday and enjoy a worry-free, full-refund policy if plans change. syntheticbiologysummit.com/?utm_source=so… See you May 4-7, 2026 at San Jose! as I get older, I have friends now leading some teams at companies and a big part of their job is dealing with company politics one common theme that's come up - there will always be people at companies who believe they can climb their way higher by pulling you down. The more senior and visible you are, the more this is true. Will will talk badly about your work, dunk on your leadership style, etc. to peers so they can potentially take your future responsibilities. This happens to every single person so don't take it personally when it happens to you. Personal beliefs: 1) The style of pulling people down burns enough bridges that eventually it backfires 2) The only thing that matters in the long run is that the people you respect, respect you. There will be people outside your sphere of influence that will probably hear the negative stuff. Just make sure the people you actually want to work with in the future respet you.

an absolute shame. @harvard cutting PhD admissions "The Organismic and Evolutionary Biology department will shrink its class size by roughly 75 percent to three new Ph.D. students [...] Molecular and Cellular Biology will reduce its figure to four new students, and Chemistry and Chemical Biology will go down to four or five admits" thecrimson.com/article/2025/1…

Legend David Baltimore died yesterday. He understood the way things should work: "the real contribution of @MIT is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. It takes ideas seriously, but the people are relatively informal. They are not self-aggrandizing the way academics can be.
