More Americans now identify as independents than with either major party — but breaking free from the grip of the two-party system will take more than frustration. This week, my daughter Heather and I were proud to join @Independent_Cen to talk about the growing power of independent voters in 2026 and beyond. Groups like The Independent Center and @americanstog are doing the critical work of building a political future that reflects the sensible majority — not the extremes. Change won’t come overnight, but it’s coming. And it starts when independents step up, speak out, and stand together.

@LarryDWilcox Manners and civility are quickly becoming a thing of a bygone era. In a time when every difference in thought or opinion with a neighbor is handled as personal attack,and people with different ideas can’t have civil discourse then we are doomed by a cycle of hate for one another.

The Latin word polire means to smooth or polish. The english word is to be polite, have manners. Manners are so important, contingent upon the intent. Manners can be a mask. And then arrives Civility. When manners and civility are both lacking you have decay.
