Alas. I’m sad to say I was among the 11 employees cut from the Texas Tribune this week. It’s been a shock, to say the least. There are few orgs I’ve felt prouder to work for in my career. washingtonpost.com/media/2023/08/…

Another huge loss for the Tribune! @Daniel_SR is a brilliant front-end developer who built and maintained tools that made our newsroom run. He is also a great colleague, collaborator and friend. Any newsroom would be lucky to snap him up.

I’ll miss my team in particular, of course. The Trib’s engineers are some of the kindest and most dedicated folks I’ve had the pleasure of working with. So long, fellas 👋

My kudos to all the hardworking folks across depts who make the whole place run - be it editorial, photo, data viz, design, audience, membership, finance, audience, product - it’s a huge effort.

My first week post-Texas Tribune, I just want to say I’ve been touched by the kind words of my friends and former colleagues. You guys are wonderful ❤️🧵
