(5/5) Incorporating the engineered HMAs domains into TKP receptors, we demonstrate the engineered receptors have expanded recognition profiles in cereal protoplast assays.

(4/5) The effector binding interfaces on the HMA domains of Rmo2 and Rwt7 are spatially distinct. We engineered both TKP-HMAs to gain binding to non-cognate effectors in vitro and in plant cells.

Our new preprint is out! Alphafold2 couldn’t do it so we solved the structure of the Pgt effector AvrSr27! 🔥Spoiler: it’s got a novel zinc bound fold important for recognition by Sr27! Thanks to all the co-authors for making this happen! 🌿
