Two AI headlines. Same day. Completely opposite stories.
📈 Intel +20% after-hours
• Revenue: $13.58B vs $12.42B expected
• EPS: $0.29 vs $0.01 expected
• Data center AI division +22% YoY
• Deals with Google, Elon Musk's Terafab, Tesla
CEO: "The CPU is reinserting itself as the indispensable foundation of the AI era."
📉 Meta laying off 8,000 people — 10% of workforce
• Cuts begin May 20
• 6,000 open roles scrapped entirely
• Reason: needs the money for AI investment instead
The market will cheer both.
Intel: earnings beat = buy signal.
Meta: cost cuts = higher margins = buy signal.
And I get it. As an investor, efficiency matters.
But I keep asking the same question:
What do the 8,000 people do next?
AI is the biggest opportunity of our generation. I genuinely believe that.
But if we're not careful, we end up with a tiny group capturing all the value at the top — and an entire workforce that never gets to contribute.
That's not a distant risk. It's happening now.
Bullish on AI. Worried about the side effects.
