@ClubPenguin747 @VivaLaDoctor That’s what I’ve been saying. When I first heard about a new Marathon game I was hype AF, then I saw the reveal trailer and was immediately disappointed. Still gave it a try though, definitely not what I expected nor hoped for.

Has Paul actually played the OG trilogy? You drop into a level, explore, loot up, shoot enemies, accomplish objectives, and then exfil to the next level. NuMarathon is not only a spiritual successor but also is directly tied into the lore and gameplay ideas from the OG trilogy.

The visuals in New Marathon are different, as is the gameplay, but the essence of the original trilogy is fully present in New Marathon, and its lore is a direct sequel to the original trilogy.

@PigeonGoGaming Well, if they spend years fixing the art, adding a cool campaign, better composed music and different game modes they might be onto something. Would be willing to give it another try in a couple of years if they actually improve it.

Where does Bungie go from here??? 😬 MARATHON has dropped to ~8K concurrent players on Steam... Bungie recently stated that they have "years" of stories planned for MARATHON 🤔 But with numbers like this, will #MARATHON even be around in a year? 🗣️ IMO: I'm doubtful fellas 🫤

@EndlessGl Good games will always thrive, bad games will fail even with their millions of dollars spent in marketing and bot accounts spamming our timelines with the same message. Marathon is not a good nor terrible game, just mid, niche, with terrible aesthetics, shells and gameplay loop.

People have become so obsessed with the failures of Concord/Highguard that they’ve convinced themselves to hate games they’d love. This era of hive mentality will kill games and make devs not take risks. Good games dying because bad games died and Twitter calls everything “woke”.

@BogOnMyDog The game failed twice before release so it’s not surprising. The server slam losing over 50% of the player base in a single day even though it was free was pretty telling, the game is just lackluster and average at best.

@hiyahiper Marathon can’t be saved, it already failed twice before the official release but they pushed it out the door anyways, not a surprise at all. Destiny 3 would probably save the studio, but I doubt they can write a decent campaign and innovate as much as they need to.

In August 2025, a manufacturing defect with an NZXT Kraken AIO caused coolant to leak onto an ASUS RTX 5090 ROG Astral, ruining both the GPU and motherboard. The company kept possession of the damaged hardware, and the user has reported conflicting diagnostic information along with a refusal of independent testing. Seven months later, the matter remains unresolved, the user is pursuing further action, including a potential lawsuit.
