I wonder why Zach Merrett seems to get absolved of Essendon's results as if he's not a part of the team. The elite guys he's compared to aren't ever on teams this bad, because they lift those around them. At what point are you a part of the problem as well?

@RichardHallett8 I'd argue the drafting. There's no A grade talent coming through. Maybe a couple of B graders, but outside Caddy, no A grade kids

Things Essendon have done well in past 3 yrs: * Appointed a strong and respected leader as President * Bought the right staff in off-field * Started to recruit/draft properly after many years of valuing the wrong attributes and not placing adequate value on leadership+a competitive mindset Things we haven’t done well: * Appointment of our current coach (and captain) were ‘soft’ and ‘safe’ decisions rather than the right decisions, symptomatic of a culture of choosing the easiest pathway. Whilst Brad may have been the decision the club had to make at the time, based on his resume and other outside factors but it seems there’s no connection and belief between coach and players now and that’s hard to defend. No remotely identifiable ‘system’ after 3 yrs is unacceptable * We constantly overrate our own players especially our on field ‘leaders’. Merrett was one big problem (great player but poor leader) however no one else is standing up either Yes our list has holes but we should be performing at a way more competitive level than we currently are. We have the list foundations to build strongly in the next few years but these young players need a coach + system that will allow them to be their best. Doing nothing will cause further long term damage to the Club

@ScooterMcNeice @PatrickRyen Yep, the senior blokes that should be showing them the way, are the problem. If they were icy poles, they'd lick themselves to death. We over reward. Durham hasnt deserved big money, for what? He isnt a top 50 player in the league? Parish, Caldwell, langford, all overrated by us

@PatrickRyen Yeh for me i had Caddy, Johnson and Kako as almost the three best players on the park for us. Kako should of kicked 3-4 but he was very dangerous and was applying pressure. All young players. So my eyes turn to senior players

@GDolyx @thebendingone He is the worst tall forward that plays every game. He had one reasonable year where best and fairest was cheap, and played some good footy. He isnt ever getting near that again. 10 years of being bang average and 1 year reasonable. What does that tell ya?
