Hird was bitterly disappointed at been overlooked last time. It’s either a real ballsy move to come out so publicly which will ultimately put pressure on the club via the wave of fan support or this whole process is a charade and it’s a formality that James will get the gig

It wasn’t but listening to your former coach tonight, the club should have let him go. The only reason that trade wasn’t done was because the new President didn’t want him traded to Hawthorn. He’s going to leave for less at the end of this season and Essendon will win the wooden spoon. Keeping him will have ended up achieving what in the end? For the club to say “we’re making a stand” 🤷♂️

Really like this from Hirdy. An honest and mature answer. He wants to do it. He’s willing to go through the process. But, if he’s not deemed to be the best so be it.
No ifs or maybes. Straight up.

We recorded this yesterday & I stand by what I said about the idea of sacking Brad Scott.
They were 6-4 this time last year! Everything from the club has been ‘we’re in this for the long haul, we’re being patient for once, we’re not old Essendon’.
They are still old Essendon.
