@RobynWingsIt The Others Great twist. But is it widely enough known? (I don't even remember the "twist" from Scream, and I actually finally saw that movie last year...)

One may not personally care for any one of those choices, but it makes no sense to deny their place among the top of their peers. To leave them out calls into question the validity of the whole list. 2/2 #NYTimes

Billy Joel was left off the NYTimes list of 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters. That's like leaving Al Pacino or Frances MacDormand off a list of great American living actors. Or either of the Roosevelts off a list of great US presidents. 1/2

@RushmoreLists I'd add: Notorious The Lady Vanishes Psycho The 39 Steps (and that's just Hitchcock...) and Rashomon (Kurosawa) Sunrise (Murnau) Roma (Cuoron) Wings of Desire (Wenders - mostly black and white) and so many more...

@HenryTarquin @TheCinesthetic Interestingly in the case of Rebecca: the lack of name for the main character was taken from the original novel (by Daphne du Maurier) which is told in the first person. First person narrative, narrator’s name withheld, certainly allows for intense identification for the reader.

@DannyAshkenasi @TheCinesthetic And we don't even notice she isn't named. It makes you wonder why this isn't more common. We need characters in novels to be named to keep track of them; we don't in movies. I suspect film characters' names are more for the benefit of screenwriters and production crew than ours

@KeruboSk All my grandparents were born in the 1800s. 1890s but still 1800s. They all had my parents, respectively, late in life. One died when my Dad was 10. One died when I was a toddler. Two of them lived long enough for me to have conversations with them.

Just out of curiosity… who out there has actually talked to someone born in the 1800s during their lifetime?

@dancindanonfilm I agree. This should be better because Cyd is really DANCING while Rosalind just poses and looks cute. But in the other the athletes are far more scantily attired. So no contest really. 😊
