The common pattern of K8S cluster per app team defeats the benefit of bin packing and has even lower utilization than dedicated VMs with control plane overhead. Seems to be very common, yet quite a departure from Borg/Nomad with few but large clusters.

Coincidentally as I tweeted this, some people next to me in this LA coffee shop are talking about HashiCorp (they have no idea who I am and my devices have no HashiCorp stickers — partially for this reason). I’ve overheard plenty of amusing conversions this way.
