I spent three hours on that border trying to clear my vehicle. So I don’t rate them that highly worse that it was the first time I was using it. On my way back on Saturday, it was so smooth such that I keep asking myself what wrong I had done. I went back the officer who added to me to get assurance that all was well. And he said yes.

On my way from an exciting holiday in Zambia I had an unpleasant experience with a Zambian Police Assistant Inspector along the Chirundu Highway who wanted to robe us in broad daylight. He flagged us down 15 km from the border and without explaining any charge demanded that we turn the car back and drive to Lusaka. We asked what the issue was but he couldn't explain and yet demanded 1000 Kwacha if he would leave us. We refused, gave him my passport and will be making a formal charge against him to Zambia Police Service. It's shocking how corruption is eroding public services to this shocking point in our countries. @DailyNationZM @QfmZambia @zadama24 @Zambia_Reports @ZambianObserver @ZP_service @PoliceZamb61410

I am compelled to share a deeply concerning experience that occurred to me on Monday, 12/04/2026 at around 12:03 which poses a serious risk not only to motorists but to public safety at large. After filling up my vehicle with a full tank of fuel at Oasis Filling Station along Kamloops Road in Kalingalinga, Lusaka, my vehicle stalled barely 1.9 km from the station while driving on the highway (Nangwenya Road). The engine completely shut down and could not restart. Initially, I suspected a battery issue and spent nearly two hours attempting multiple jump-starts, all to no avail. I then contacted my mechanic, who advised that the vehicle be towed back home for proper inspection. Upon draining the fuel system, we discovered a shocking issue: the fuel contained a significant amount of watery liquid (see pictures attached to this post) Visually and physically, it resembled water contamination. This immediately raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of fuel being dispensed at the station. I returned to the filling station and reported the issue to the manager on duty. Unfortunately, she appeared to have limited authority and could not provide immediate assistance or resolution without consulting her superiors. Regrettably, this engagement yielded no meaningful response. Even more concerning, Oasis Filling Station management has proven to be difficult, and non-compliant in resolving the issue affecting my vehicle, despite clear evidence and multiple affected customers on site. worse off, five other motorists were present at the station reporting similar incidents—vehicles breaking down shortly after refueling from the same location. As it stands, my vehicle is currently immobilized, and I am likely facing costly repairs due to what appears to be contaminated fuel. Sadly, This situation is not just an inconvenience—it is a serious safety hazard. Like in my case, a vehicle stalling unexpectedly on the highway put our lives at risk which could have easily resulted in accidents or fatalities. As it stands, I personally strongly urge: - Fellow motorists to exercise extreme caution when refueling in this area. - The relevant authorities, including the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) and consumer protection bodies, to immediately investigate this matter. - Oasis Filling Station management to take accountability and urgently address the issue to prevent further damage and harm (though they're proving to be not compliant as I speak right now). Unfortunately, this incident highlights the critical importance of fuel quality assurance, regulatory enforcement, and consumer protection in Zambia. #PublicSafety #FuelContamination #Lusaka #ConsumerProtection #ERB #RoadSafety #Accountability

The Jews that settled in what is called Zambia include the Susman brothers and more. Read the books called Zion in Zambia and the Susman brothers, Africa trading empire. These two books will give you context for you to understand that the group was much bigger than the highlighted. The Susman brothers went to form Woolworths in SA and Marks and Spencer in the UK.

No, a Jewish Lithuanian family does not own most of Lusaka, Zambia. 🇿🇲✡️ This claim has been circulating widely on social media, often traced back to posts by Zambian commentator Joseph Kalimbwe below and similar accounts. It is a significant exaggeration that turns a real but limited family business story into something far larger than the facts support. The family in question is the Galaun (sometimes spelled Galaunia) family. Abe (Abraham) Galaun, a Lithuanian Jew born in 1914, arrived in Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) just before World War II. He built a successful agricultural and business empire focused on meat, dairy, ranching, and farming. His company, Galaunia Farms Limited (part of the broader Galaun Group), acquired eight farms totaling roughly 25,000 acres (about 101 square kilometres) on the outskirts of Lusaka starting in the 1940s. These were primarily agricultural lands used for food production. Some of these former farmlands later contributed to the development of suburbs and townships such as Meanwood, Ibex Hill, Salama Park, and parts of Kudu Village/Chamba Valley. The family also operated butcheries, retail businesses, and held some properties in the central business district. Zambia’s first president, Kenneth Kaunda, once publicly praised Abe Galaun as “the man who feeds the nation” for his role in the country’s food supply. However, this is very different from owning “most” of Lusaka. The city’s district area is approximately 360–418 square kilometres. The Galauns’ holdings were a notable portion of peripheral farmland at one time, not the developed urban core, and much of that land has since been sold, subdivided, or developed into residential plots over the decades. The family’s companies continue to operate today, selling serviced land in growing suburbs, but they do not control the majority of the capital. Land ownership in Lusaka is diverse and includes Zambian citizens, the government, private developers, companies, and other investors from various backgrounds. No single family, Jewish or otherwise, owns the bulk of the city. The viral version of the story (sometimes claiming “70%” or “almost 70%” of Lusaka, or adding an “Italian” connection without historical basis) does not appear in any credible history of Zambia’s small Jewish community. That community peaked at only a few hundred people in the mid-20th century and is now tiny. The Galauns’ success is real and part of the broader story of early 20th-century Jewish immigrants who contributed to Zambia’s cattle trade, mining, and agriculture. But turning their legitimate land holdings into a claim that one family “owns most of Lusaka” is simply not accurate. In reality, the Galaun family’s story is one of immigrant entrepreneurship that helped feed the nation and supported suburban growth. The exaggerated claim does not hold up when examined against the actual scale of Lusaka or the city’s diverse ownership patterns. Joseph, the facts matter. The Galauns had substantial farmland interests tied to their farming legacy, interests that have largely been developed or sold over time, but they have never owned “most” of Lusaka. Let’s stick to the record rather than the rumour.

Statement by Joseph Kalimbwe a) In Ndola Central b) The Mines are largely owned by Canadians c) In Lusaka 70% of land has been historically owned by a Jewish - Lithuanian Family since 1946. Zambians are spectators in our Economy. Full clip; facebook.com/share/v/1Hhbjh…

@nkowane1 @BuyoyaJonah Not sure how this is related to exporting maize products rather than maize itself. Unfortunately the plight of small scale farmers and the level of poverty in the rural areas make it imperative for government subsidy. The politics of maize make the situation far worse

@DannyMuseteka @BuyoyaJonah Zambian maize price is not competitive. There is too much tax payers money being thrown at maize pricing. Keeping the market predictable will lead to efficiency among the farming community and if tax payers want yo put in monet let them throw it at machination.

The Zambian government has lifted the ban on maize and mealie‑meal exports to boost farmer incomes and expand markets. Agriculture ministry says traders can now export with permits via the Zambia Electronic Single Window, urging compliance at checkpoints like Konkola/Kasumbalesa.

@SentimentalCook There is a report circulating purporting that Zambia exported $30bn worth of copper and cobalt in 2025. If that indeed is true, I will challenge the GDP of $30bn. The fact that these exports are receipted outside the country is irrelevant.

I am not an economist, however, my young brother is so I asked him to respond to this. I am paraphrasing here.. GDP is the value of goods and services produced in a year, it is not a bunch of cash sitting at BOZ or dollars available in the forex market. "..the USD price would 've gone down crashing to K10/dollar." That is not how FDI works, it is not just fresh dollars being deposited in Zambia and being sold for Kwacha. It is reinvested earnings, equity capital and future investment pledges. Apart from investor confidence, FX rates are driven by export earnings, interest rates, capital in-flows, balance of payments and Fx reserves. Economists, please feel free to chime in..
𝒦𝒶𝓁-𝐸𝓁@Malik_ZMB

Zambia’s GDP is only $30bn. $5bn is about 17% of that number. If $5bn was invested in Zambia at any point, we would have felt it, the USD price would’ve gone down crashing to K10/dollar.
