Carlos Estévez is in a boot this morning and will have his ankle contusion reevaluated, but manager Matt Quatraro said he would be “surprised” if Estévez would be available today. If he were, Quatraro said “we would not be averse to putting him in a lower-leverage situation.”

Q is going to have to juggle his bullpen. Estevez isn’t going to win many matchups with a heater sitting around 90-91. That major velocity drop, a concern all spring, is officially issue No. 1 with this team.

Almost all of the Q hate is bonkers to me, but that result was beyond predictable. Estevez was awful, but he never should have been in that spot. Brutal.

Carlos Estevez losing tonight's game is on him. If it happens again, it is on Quatraro. You shouldn't overreact to one game, but this isn't one game. This is an entire spring. He has nothing. He shouldn't be pitching in close games, let alone closing, until that changes.
