I use enterprise level AI routinely for my work. That doesnt justify any of the nonsense people sold on building skynet want to do. AI is no more the answer to the worlds problems than was the wheel or splitting the atom. Its a tool that either is or is not used well and practically to serve humans. Most use cases posited for AI today are either impractical, or anti-human uses. At the end of the day this tool is pointless if its creators lack the moral and intellectual capacity to use it properly. Which... as it turns out they absolutely do lack. So watching them implode from thier own hubris is quite frankly cathartic. 4 sticks of ram is like a 1000$ today for what exactly? Some thing that all the AI apololgists keep saying will happen one day trust us bro, and trust us if china gets there first.... what exactly? Are they gonna sic some version of grock with a coolie hat on me? Ill be fine.

@Daocats @DocStrangelove2 Everything you and like-minded people who don’t push for AI bring up as the bad is all surface-level. It’s the most literal, sloppy, generic use of AI, but that’s not all AI is capable of. It's just what idiots online are using it for.

Infinity billion dollars to make dancing animal videos and top down Palantir surveillance states and botted social media personas is not an arms race, it is a harebrained pyramid scheme being indulged by goofballs who think that having the best AI model will somehow proclaim them king of the universe. Im glad for your investments, or sorry for them, depending on whichever way the wind is blowing for you today.

@Daocats @DocStrangelove2 Yeah, I can tell you’re a genuinely politically unserious person, but I’ll add this anyway: there is no shortage of land or water. If we need to accommodate that, then we should be building massive desalination plants, and even then, these are temporary. Space is next.

It’s one of the most powerful tools government has…and when it’s abused… it stops being public service and starts looking like state-sanctioned taking for profit.
