While his 2024-25 Premier League stats of 6 goals and 5 assists in 34 appearances might not be as eye-catching as Barnes's, they tell only half the story. Gordon's pressing and defensive contributions are invaluable, particularly against a possession-heavy team like Barcelona. He is a key component of Howe's high-energy, counter attacking system. He also 'owes us' a performance after his moment of madness against Liverpool and needs to get the monkey off his back of not scoring in 223 days for Newcastle!
