Brazil is currently liquidating their crop at a loss just to cover their own massive fuel and fertilizer debts. When USDA lists "record global stocks," they aren't telling you that half of those stocks are held by farmers who can't afford to transport them. #corn #soybeans

Farmers used to celebrate the work; now we just calculate the "burn rate" of our own equity while we wait for a market that’s rigged to stay "orderly." Maybe that's overly negative, but more & more days are starting to feel like that.

Farm equipment prices have roughly doubled in the last 10 years and the grain price hasn't followed. That gap doesn't show up on any futures board. It shows up on your balance sheet at the end of a decent year when you're trying to figure out why it still didn't feel like one.

Brazil: Mountains of beans, but they’re paying $6+ diesel to move them. Argentina: "Leafhopper Tax" is gutting their corn yield, but USDA won't admit it until the crop is in the bin. US: $12 beans sounds OK until you realize they barely cover the 8.5% interest & fuel costs.

Think about Crop Tour this way: A modern farm is a high-tech lab. A grower invests heavily in precision genetics, variable-rate nitrogen applications & soil health. When scouts pull an ear of corn they are taking farmers' private data & turning it into a public commodity.

@SeanOfNowhere @Ck27126422 @FarmJournal majority of crop tour scouts are other farmers & ag industry reps. @profarmer only sends 1-2 staffers into the field, they're more interested in the data totals they can sell to big ag.

@DarkSoilData @Ck27126422 @FarmJournal I figured that crop scouting tour was with BTOs who agreed to be part of it and got some swag and a check for their trouble. I am also far enough east in Ohio they don’t come out this fsr.

@VylorSeeds @Ck27126422 That agreement is limited to Corteva employees. The profarmer crop tour is other farmers & market advisory services--I don't want my in-field data going to them.

@SeanOfNowhere @Ck27126422 If more farmers thought of there fields as a business, they'd agree. @farmjournal knows the push-back against stealing data is growing, 2026 needs to be the tipping-point year where farmers take back control of their field data.

@Ck27126422 You are well within your rights to demand payment for the samples taken or the "consulting value" of the data they extracted. My fields start at $1000 per sample. 3 ears of corn = $3k.

@Ck27126422 It’s time to move past the "uninvited scout" era & toward a model that respects the person who actually owns the dirt. If you find scouts in your field, you have the right to hold them accountable for 2 distinct things: Property Damage: & Access Fees.

Finishing up planting used to be a point of pride & feeling of relief. This year it just feels like finishing a race where the entry fee was higher than the purse.

@Dusty3080467325 If more landowners understood how their field data was being used behind the scenes, they'd call the law on @profarmer too. This needs to be the year that men become men & put a stop to the data theft.

Ok #AgTwitter dumb question. I have roughly 300 gallon of ATS a d 32% solution blended for 12m6 GPA 32% and 5 GPA ATS left over from my corn-pre. If i blended that with say 800 gallon of water. Would that be to hot to run in-furrow at 4 GPA?
