That’s not progress. That’s the same statist game. You want “some progress over none”? The right has had decades of power- Reagan, Bush, Trump, and the federal government only grew: bigger deficits, more wars, Patriot Act surveillance, DHS creation, regulatory bloat. “A little at a time” is exactly how the left built the administrative state. Republicans keep helping it along, then demand loyalty because “at least it’s not the left.” That’s not dismantling communism. That’s slow-motion surrender with red team branding. Trump & MAGA explicitly ran against expanding these operations, promising to drain the swamp, slash regulations, end forever wars, and restore freedom. Not “give us 4-8 years to turbocharge executive power and rebrand the deep state.” Voters weren’t sold “some progress toward bigger government.” They were sold less government. Now it’s “new management” on the surveillance machine and tariff taxes on Americans? That’s not imperfect leadership. That’s breaking the promise. Lincoln wasn’t “progress” he was executive tyranny that set the precedent for suspending rights and growing the monster. Not shrugging at more executive power because “my team.” You agree on some perspective but still defend getting rid of Iran as a “permanent end” to Middle East engagements? History shows intervention begets more intervention, regime change, occupation, blowback. Non-interventionism isn’t isolationism; it’s refusing to let “safety” justify endless empire-building that expands the military-industrial complex and executive war powers. The left and right both grow the state this way. I reject the premise entirely. This isn’t about left crucifying their own vs. right demanding loyalty. It’s about consistency: government power is the enemy, whether blue or red. Republicans time and again choose to expand the Leviathan “for our safety” or “to own the libs” instead of shrinking it. “Some progress” under Trump is still net more state control.
