So, verdict on Final Fantasy 13: For a game made in 2009 it looks honestly very nice. The combat is fun, not super advanced but definitely can min/max even in the earlier stages. I like the battle theme, Lightning is kind of a bitch (hopefully she opens up more), Sazh is cool, Hope complains a lot, Vanille makes nice noises in combat. I do not agree when people say it's a bad game, it feels much different from the others in the series but overall it's pretty damn fun so far.

Here's the thing: in high school, I took a class called Personal Financial Management where we learned about taxes, credit card debt, checkbook balancing, compounding interest, etc, and as a teenager, it was the most boring thing I could imagine and I slept through every class.

@DashRetroTV Same thing happened me for my legend of dragoon speedruns. Turns out an artist sampled a song without permission and then copyrighted it. Try finding them and the song they used and include that and the original in the appeal so YT knows the claimer doesnt own it.

@ShitpostRock Pretty much any mechanic is not inherently unfun as long as the game is properly designed around it and makes it interesting. Breath of the Wild even did level scaling quite well.

I had a cat in Mewgenics that gained block every time he was concussed so I gave him 7 concussions. He had -5 intelligence and all of his event dialogue looked like this.
I lost. It wasn't even a good strategy, but the game let me do it which is amazing.

immersive sims are insane to me because they're demanding as hell to make, difficult to follow-up, and rarely sell well. but when they're good they instantly become highly influential or at least a cult-classic

@DashRetroTV I have played tons of RPGs with fast travel that's not restrictive and have so much more attachment to 90% of the characters from those games than I do to any Pokémon that I've used for Fly, this is a flimsy excuse at best

every time i go back and play an older pokemon game i remember how much better the qol is nowadays. why was stuff like re-nicknaming pokemon or fast travelling still such a hassle until like, the switch games. why were random encounters still a thing until 2022!!!

Highguard is another example of why I tire of online discourse regarding gaming showcases. The rise of "anti-fans" is huge. Back in the day if something wasnt for you, youfocused on the stuff you like. Now people put as much energy into hating something as they do what they like.
