Here's why that's necessary, and why it matters. Saint Francis plays 8 games in 2026. All 8 are against PAC opponents. None of them count. SFU is not a countable opponent for in-conference record purposes until it completes its Division III transition. Per the conference office, that holds for 2026 and 2027 at minimum, across all sports. Member schools are being instructed to mark SFU as non-conference. The result is a league that doesn't play the same schedule: • 8 teams play Saint Francis and finish with 7 countable conference games — Bethany, Case Western, Geneva, Grove City, Hiram, Saint Vincent, W&J, Westminster. • 3 teams don't and finish with 8 — Allegheny, Thiel, Waynesburg. So how do you compare a 7-1 team to a 6-1 team? The PAC's answer: you don't compare percentage. You compare the loss column. 7-1 and 6-1 are considered TIED at one loss each, which sends it to tiebreakers — and if the 6-1 team won the head-to-head, the 6-1 team is the champion. Lower winning percentage, conference title. Same logic upstream. An 8-0 team and a 7-0 team are also tied at zero losses. If they never played each other, there's no head-to-head to apply — and the PAC goes to its next tiebreaker: NPI. All of the above confirmed with the PAC office.
