Yesterday's Data Governance Café tackled exactly that. Day 2 Highlights | East Africa Data Governance Conference 2026 Day 2 moved the conversation from reflection to action; exploring how East Africa can build data governance systems that enable innovation while protecting rights, accountability, and public trust. Keynote speaker Melissa Omino reminded participants that before the dataset comes the human story, urging policymakers and technologists to centre people and lived experiences in digital systems. Sessions tackled data protection litigation, regulatory sandboxes, county-level governance, community digital rights awareness, and AI accountability.
