PETER ABACHA OBI - A ROLLING STONE GATHERING NO VALUE He left APGA in 2014 for PDP not for ideology, not for conviction, not for the people he so frequently claims to love - but for a ministerial slot in Goodluck Jonathan's second term. He got Special Adviser as GEJ wraps up before Buhari rightly dismissed him for incompetence. He left PDP for Labour Party in 2022 because he was desperate to be on the Presidential ballot and didn't have the balls to compete with men, he then relocated into a system he could be coronated candidate absent contest - anointed without test. He left Labour Party for ADC because party faithfuls mistook him for a leader and consistently sought his inputs and counsel in periods of turmoil. Peter got weary of leadership responsibilities, he got tired of pretending to be a leader and he fled the LP like a hen flees the rain. He left Labour's house burning and walked off into the distance. Now in 2026, again he has left ADC to the NDC because the same men he fled from in PDP are refusing to be bullied, just as they resisted in 2022. No one will hand Peter the crown on a platter. You want the prize? Pay the price. Peter seeks the throphy without the efforts. Seeing that no one was ready to submit to his blackmail, he has again fled. No matter how long you cook a bush rat, it will still smell of the wild. The leopard does not negotiate with its spots. This is the man who cannot endure the ordinary rigours of a party democratic process. This is the man whose only language in turbulence is the diction of escape. This is the man who has never successfully organized the affairs of men in any political structure he has entered - yet he stands before the Nigerian voter with open palms, asking for the highest office in the land. 😆 Well... We will fully analyze that as the days mature. Good Afternoon Severally...

Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you. Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances. We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal. More painful is when some of those you associate with, believing you would find understanding and solidarity among them, become part of the pressure you face. Some who publicly identify with you privately distance themselves or join in unfair criticism. We live in a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect is seen as a lack of courage, and compassion is treated as foolishness—a system where treating people equally is questioned simply because you refuse to worship status, tribe, class, or power. Personally, I have never looked down on anyone except to uplift them. I have never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small. To me, leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise. Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building. Even within spaces where one labours sincerely, one is sometimes treated like an outsider in one’s own home. You and your team become easy targets for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as though honest contribution has become a favour being tolerated rather than appreciated. And when you choose to leave so that those you are leaving can have peace, and you step out into the cold, you are still maligned and your character is questioned. Despite all your efforts to continue working for a better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those who do not wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions. There are moments I ask God in prayer: Why is doing the right thing often misconstrued as wrongdoing in our country? Why is integrity not valued? Why is the prudent management of resources, especially when invested in critical areas like education and healthcare, wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why are humility and obedience to the rule of law often taken to be weakness rather than discipline? Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work. I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Chairman Party Carpet – The Odyssey of Desperation A podium. Four different party logos painted over, one on top of the other, next 🤔 NDC?. His supporters wave a flag that has been photoshopped four times. This man is not a politician. He is a political nomad – no, a political Uber driver: different party every election, same passenger (his ambition). He speaks of “breaking the duopoly” while collecting every party’s registration card like a child collects stickers. You say you want to take Nigeria to a better place. But how can you lead a country when you cannot lead even one party to the next bus stop without jumping off? Your ‘principles’ are just a poorly disguised taxi – always available, always moving, but nobody knows where you parked yesterday Peter Obi’s political journey: From APGA to PDP to LP to ADC to NDC – five parties, one man, zero loyalty, 100% Naija desperation. Peter and Kwankwaso latest move is just series of activities but will end up without a strong movement. Akin to political suicide. Peter Obi did not resolve his fundamental issues with major stakeholders (no details), moving as one man show, while Kwankwaso is a person of particular interest by the United States Government. All these will play out and may consume their energies and relationships with the foreign partner stakeholders of Nigeria. Again political pragmatism and maturity will play a role from the principal actors. Tinubu will be more comfortable facing Atiku than any of Obi or Kwankwaso, because there’s a passibility political understanding between the two. Also Atiku will be more preferably to confront Tinubu, because of same level of mindset. International partners are more interested in political pragmatism, maturity and stability on leadership, than some emotive, overly ambitious desire mask as common sense or humility. With our huge strategic gas reserves and the world is moving hugely in that direction, Nigeria will be of keen interest to all the major global players, particularly the United States. International partners would prefer a Tinubu continuity or an Atiku Presidency. Pragmatism and Stability is KEY The duo of Obi and Rabiu are a possible distraction for one region, in the south and half a state in the north, for both Tinubu and Atiku, respectively. 2019 may represent itself. This time around, as Tinubu vs. Atiku: the two most important refined democrats in Nigeria alive today. Fingers crossed. Adamu Garba II

Obi and Dickson had a meeting last year. Dickson went ahead and formed the NDC. Obi knew Tinubu would try to shatter the ADC coalition, so he moved ahead of time. El-Rufai said last December that the ADC coalition was just a temporary solution. These men are several steps ahead of Tinubu this time. Now both Obi and Kwankwaso have defected to the NDC. El-Rufai will join them next week. Atiku and Tinubu didn’t see it coming.

Peter Obi Leaving The ADC: A Mistake Northern Nigeria Cannot Afford To Make Please fact-check me: Every party Peter Obi has been in has been relatively crisis-free until Peter joined that party. And as soon as he comes in, peace goes out of that party and strife sets in. Once can be a mistake. Twice may be a coincidence. But after the third time, and then the fourth, it becomes a pattern. The parties are not the problem. Peter is the issue. Is this the type of character Arewa wants to pin its hope on? An Alakoba? It makes no sense for Northern Nigeria to cast its lot with Peter Obi on the strength of a one-term promise that he, given his antecedents, will NEVER keep. This is especially so when Arewa has the choice of a performing President Bola Tinubu, who, by law, can only serve one more term. Let the North weigh its options rationally, as a particularly politically astute region. Peter Obi has made four very public promises not to leave the four political parties that gave him four platforms to rise to power and prominence. And each time, Mr Obi has broken such promises, providing one flimsy reason after another. In fact, he is gearing up to exit his fourth political party and enter his fifth. That being the case, what gives the North any confidence that a serial promise breaker will keep his promise to them to do just one term? In carrying out a SWOT analysis of Northern Nigeria, Arewa will realise that out-of-school children, which are leading to a rise in insecurity, are its greatest challenge, while agriculture is its biggest strength. As such, it is prudent to ask if a man who, as Governor, did not build a single nursery, primary, or secondary school and university, and also did not develop even one small communal garden, talks more of mechanised agriculture, is in a position to add value to Northern Nigeria. It is in the best interest of Northern Nigeria to stick with the man who made it possible for General Buhari to win the All Progressives Congress Presidential primaries in 2014 and the Presidential Election in 2015. Remember, one good turn deserves another. One good term deserves another. Whether through leaked audio or public statements, President Tinubu has never jeopardised the interests of Arewa or any other part of Nigeria. Therefore, if Nigeria's unity is important to you, the only option for 2027 is Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Reno Omokri Ambassador Designate to Mexico. Gospeller. For people want more context, here is what the deal entails : Imagine the US used to give money to help African countries fight diseases like HIV, malaria, and TB through big aid organisations like USAID/PEPFAR. Now, under a new Trump policy called "America First," they're changing how that money is given. Instead of sending cash through proxy NGOs , the US signs a 5-year contract directly with the country's government. The deal says: The US will still give a lot of money (hundreds of millions or billions in bigger countries). But the African country must also put in more of its own money every year to pay for medicines, hospital workers, etc. Over time, the country takes full control and pays most of the bills itself. The tricky parts that some countries dislike: -The country has to share a lot of its people's health records and disease data with the US (sometimes for many years). -The US gets to set targets and check if the country is doing a good job. -In return, the country gets help building better health systems. Why some say no (like Ghana and Zimbabwe): They worry about giving away private health information without enough control, and they feel the deal is one-sided, they give data and money, but may not get equal benefits like cheap new medicines later. It's basically a "you help pay more, we give less over time, but we get your health data" swap to make countries more independent while protecting America from future outbreaks. 32 countries including Nigeria signed happily, others rejected it.
BBC News Africa@BBCAfrica

Ghana has rejected a $109m US health deal over data protection concerns. Zimbabwe has also turned down a similar offer. The BBC’s Thomas Naadi explains why some African nations are pushing back.
