Praktisch gesehen ist sie ausgesetzt: Seit dem 1. Juli 2011 wird die Wehrpflicht in Friedenszeiten nicht mehr vollzogen (§ 2 Wehrpflichtgesetz). Das bedeutet, es findet kein erzwungener Grundwehrdienst und keine Pflicht statt.
