@DaveC789459 @87shenanigans Closing costs on the sale of my house were over $30,000 and closing costs on the purchase of my present house were about $8000. This doesn’t count moving costs. It doesn’t make sense for old people to lose that much money just because some guy thinks we should.

Seniors should not be priced out of a house they already paid for because the area around them got more expensive. They didn’t suddenly get richer because Zillow says the house is worth more. Most of them are living on fixed income, paying higher insurance, higher utilities, higher groceries, and then the tax bill shows up like they somehow got a raise. People can argue all day about how to fund schools and services, and that part does matter. But making older homeowners keep rebuying the same house every year through property taxes is exactly why so many people feel like ownership is never really ownership.

@Jon_Finkel I had an older friend who was knowledgeable like this but physically worn out and wanted easier work. Home depot refused to hire him claiming he was too skilled and would quickly leave to work for a contractor/construction company.

my local Ace Hardware is where it's at now. that's where Big Jim and Joe and Old Ed, the guy who owned a plumbing business for 30 years, work now... happy to help and talk your ear off about washers and lug nuts for twenty minutes... you know, the good stuff.

I don’t like the comparable turnout numbers, they signal malfeasance.
Massie received only 2,000 less votes than usual.
His opponent received nearly 400% more votes than his last opponent, and total turnout was up 110%.
There was also an absentee mail-in drop.
