The Southampton players had the day off on the Thursday, and on the Friday before the first leg, they did not work on team shape in open play. It was purely a defensive set-piece session, the footage of which they also shared with the panel. What Southampton and their legal team wanted to show – and which was borne out by the game – was that Eckert’s tactical approach did not change from the session on Wednesday. The EFL haven’t just punished us; they’ve ruined us. In addition to losing half our team, we’ll be sued for many, many millions by players, sponsors & rival teams. We’re essentially facing years of decline and pain on and off the pitch. Thats why this is disproportionate.

I was replying to some Boro fan with this and I think this sums it up. The irony is, those three games, we lost to Oxford, drew to Ipswich and drew to Boro. We literally gained nothing but lost everything. Feel so sorry for our fans. #SaintsFC
