Our systematic review in NEJM looked at exactly this. We reviewed the recent flu vaccine literature published since the last ACIP evidence review, covering effectiveness data from the 2023-2024 season onward. Pooled data from 6 studies: the flu vaccine reduces a child’s risk of flu hospitalization by 67%. Among kids who developed acute necrotizing encephalopathy from the flu, 84% were unvaccinated. Of the 11 who died, 10 were unvaccinated. For adults, pooled data from 13 studies showed the vaccine cuts hospitalization risk by 42-48%. A major US network study found it reduces the risk of in-hospital death by 50%. Anyone who says there is “no evidence” the flu vaccine prevents serious disease or death is just wrong.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
