The 70% Rule for Bagging an On-Chain Data Analyst Job. I started my data analyst career when @Zun2025 took a few of us under his wing. The journey has been incredibly rewarding ever since, & I’m currently on the verge of sealing the biggest employment deal of my career professionally. Everyone can query a basic Dune dashboard, but very few can pull deep, cross-chain data & visualize metrics that even DeFiLlama can't reach. If you’re getting rejected for data roles, read this: > Avoid Being Basic: Projects don’t want a generalist. If they can see a metric on a public aggregator, it provides no unique value to them. The essence of Dune is visualizing deep user metrics specific to a protocol’s internal logic. Master this, and you’re 70% closer to the job. > Find Your Business Audience Stop pitching blindly. Instead, focus on sectors where data is the lifeblood of the business: - Liquidity Protocols - Vaults & Yield Aggregators - DEXs & Perp Exchanges - High-volume Meme Tokens If it’s liquidity-affiliated, the team needs to see exactly where that money is moving. > Fix Your Pitch ❌ "Hi, I’m a data analyst and I want to build a dashboard for you." ✅ "I’m an on-chain analyst with verified Proof of Work. I’ve identified specific deep-user metrics for your protocol that aren't currently being tracked. I’d like to propose a dashboard to help your ecosystem grow." Never sound desperate. > Professionalism in Presentation Don’t send PDFs or sketchy links. Upload your portfolio to Notion. It’s clean, pro, & builds immediate trust. A polished Notion link often determines whether a BD or COO even bothers to open your dashboard. > Build Before You're Hired I learned this from @SamuelXeus & @NDIDI_GRAM: Don't wait for a job offer to start working. Pick a top-tier project and: - Build an advanced dashboard for free. - Tag the team or DM them directly. Even if they don't hire you today, you’re now on their priority list (and their incentives radar). > Collaboration > Ego Drop the pride & network with both smaller and bigger acc. You don’t need 10k followers if you have a direct link to a PM or Founder. Pro-tip: Work in Pods. - 1 person pitches (BD) - 1 person codes (Dev) - 1 person builds (Analyst) Versatility equals more gigs. > Stay close to KOLs, builders & hungry, well connected smaller acc. that can link you to opportunities or help you tailor your value proposition properly, most of my refs came from acc <2k followers that were surprisingly well connected. Referral-based hiring is the fastest way to reach the top of the industry. Final Thought: It’s a numbers game. Out of 10 interviews, you might get 9 rejections. But that 1 Yes is the salary that changes everything. What's the biggest hurdle you're facing in your data journey?
