Enzo Fernandez’s future, despite having his best season in front of goal for the club, is the ‘biggest’ question mark in Chelsea’s squad. Chelsea want to add more maturity and leadership to their squad and, in that sense, Fernandez’s disciplinary record and his decision to air some of his complaints in public could count against him. The important caveat is that one of 2 starting-calibre signings would have to be a midfielder who can replace Enzo Fernandez, but that would be a good position to introduce a new leader in the squad. James dropped his wages from 250k to 200
Fofana is on 200k and I'm sure Chelsea won't extend his contract
Caicedo is on 200k after signing a new contract in April
Palmer is on 130k
Enzo is on 180k already, he has to move to 200k, not above that. If he rejects it, it simply means he wants to leave but is using wage increase disagreement as an excuse.
We have a lot of players on less than 100k, Gusto and Lavia are on 45k.
200k is enough for Enzo Fernandez as of now. He should take it or leave it ..

For me, any player who wants to leave the club because he wasn't given the money he asked for doesn't really want to play for you.
If he wants, he will agree to a deal that suits him and the club. To build the right culture at Chelsea, we need players who truly want to play for the club. No exceptions.
Bruno Fernandes had bigger offers last season, and United wanted to sell, but he insisted on staying without Champions League and without demanding more money.
That's the character we need at the club. Make no mistake, the club's culture is more important than any player's desire.

Negotiation is a two-way thing. Chelsea clearly wants him to stay, but if he's asking for £250k-£300k per week and the club says no, he can't be disappointed with that.
From what his agent Pastore said, it's down to money—what they think he deserves. But the problem is if we give it to him, we will be forced to adjust Palmer’s and Caicedo’s accordingly in a year. That's how it works for players' representatives.
However, for Enzo, he still has six years or thereabouts on his existing contract. Chelsea can still decide to keep him for 2-3 years if they want. I don't see anything to worry about.

@Dave_TTW @Blue_Footy Midfielder that can't dribble, can't shot properly, passes are average, clearance is mid, crosses are non existent, tackles are rare etc.
Boy is just too average for the kind of midfielder we need like Lampard, Fabregas, Oscar, Ballack, Essien etc that have previously been here.

I sincerely don't see what he gives us to make up for that massive haemorrhage he costs the team.

Even if you pay a player £500k a week, tomorrow he’ll ask for more.
That’s the reality of modern football wages. Once one contract breaks the structure, the whole dressing room resets its expectations.
This raises the real question: does the highest wage bill actually win you the most trophies?

But the likes of Palmer, Caicedo and Reece have shown that quality and didn't ask for what the club can't afford. A player can't be allowed to mess up that structure. It's not worth it. If he truly wants to stay, he will stay. Without Enzo, we will find another way to play to the strength of the existing players. One thing I have learnt in football is that culture of the club is more important than one player. PSG sacrificed Mbappe and got better. Alex Ferguson used to sell anyone that thought he was bigger than the club and got better. It depends on how you make most of the situation but playing to the tune of any player is sending a bad message to the entire squad. Just stick to the principles.

If you keep giving more money, there is no end to that route. Trust me, it's proven in football.
