Valuable & allows interesting strategies. Leverage arms are not as important most games so you can be more aggressive with them, closer in the 6th to lock up a win, etc.

Incredibly valuable. Guaranteed win every time your lead is more than the innings remaining. The 9.00 ERA is less important than the zero variance; you know exactly when to use him.

The zero variance is more important than the ERA. You win every game you lead by N+1 runs with N innings remaining. Empirical question how often such leads are lost, but at a minimum seems +EV to use a roster spot to carry in playoffs. And *tons* of second-order positive effects.

@warofthewren @hunters174 @Jram2TBJ I just checked the numbers for if this pitchers pitched every win guaranteeing opportunity for my team, and summed the WPA. He would have a 0.93 WPA, in 18 games, and 52 IP. That is one of the more valuable RPs in the league so far (24th RP, 53rd pitcher overall)

And they have a bottom 5 offense, a team with a good offense probably gets much more. So yes it makes sense
