🇺🇦❗️ Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi gave an interview dedicated to the defense of Kyiv in February-March 2022
🔘 Syrskyi asked that Zaluzhnyi appoint him responsible for the defense of Kyiv 12 days before the start of the full-scale invasion. Then the defense lines, sectors, appointed officers, and consolidated units were formed.
🔘“This was expected for us, because the day before, a day ago, I gathered the entire leadership of the city, the leadership of the Ground Forces, and I presented the plan for the defense of Kyiv and the order of action. Therefore, when the attack began, everyone already knew the order of action."
🔘 At the first stage of the defense, the problem was organizing communication between different units. During the battles for Moshchun, for example, this was solved by the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided communication and coordination.
🔘 Small mobile groups played a significant role in the defense of the city and were helped by local patriots. Then there was a constant flow of information about where the enemy was, what forces and means he had.
🔘 The defense forces considered the possibility of defending the airports, so everything was prepared for defense there - Hostomel, Boryspil and Zhulyany were no exception. All these areas, including Hostomel, were under dense artillery fire. This made it possible to significantly damage the landing and inflict significant losses on the airborne troops.
🔘 The biggest mistake of the Russians was underestimating the enemy: "They did not take us into account at all. And they counted on the support of our population. I think it was thanks to our traitors who "worked off" Russian money," - noted Syrsky.
🔘 The defense forces during the battles for Kyiv took into account the experience of defending the city in World War II. In particular, there were maps of the Kyiv fortified area, and also used bunkers that were built in the western part of Kyiv - some of them, even despite the flooding, were in normal condition.
🔘 During the battles for Moshchun, there were somewhat panicky reports about the breakthrough of our defense - Syrsky and General Nesterenko personally toured the inner ring of the capital's defense.

The more I follow the news, the more convinced I become that among world leaders, the only truly sane one left is our President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It feels like the world has lost its mind and plunged headfirst into total chaos. Today, you could name not one or two winners of the global crisis. Trump has “won” the war in Iran. Iran has “won” against Trump. Ukraine is facing Putin, Orbán, Kim Jong-un, Trump, and Lukashenko. Russia is helping Iran despite the U.S. war in Iran, yet Trump sees nothing unusual in it — just as he sees nothing wrong with Russian oil being supplied to Cuba, which he has already lined up as a future target. Lukashenko travels to North Korea with sweets and traditional gifts, and returns happily with an urn for ashes — a gift from Kim Jong-un. Belarus confirms its partnership with North Korea — a strategic ally of Iran — while Trump sends Lukashenko gifts and waits for a meeting. All the dictators, together with the U.S. President, hope that Orbán will defeat Zelenskyy at least on billboards and help destroy the EU. The countries of the Persian Gulf now find themselves in a situation where everything they have built could vanish in an instant. Trump encourages the Saudi leader to publicly flatter him in the most humiliating way, counting on the same kind of shock effect as when he once talked about Melania’s underwear. Europe once again complains about Orbán, who prevents them from doing “good things.” As in: we would, but we can’t. This entire theater of absurdity once again proves: today, Ukraine is the only sane country. Thanks to its President, its people, and, without a doubt, its Armed Forces. Let me remind you once again: Ukraine will become the safest place on Earth. The most developed, technological, and desirable. Everyone we are helping today will invest in us. And those who try to humiliate Ukraine, slow down aid, or side with Russia will get what they deserve. Nothing good awaits them — only decay, helplessness, and disappointment.
