Well, that was a deflating way to lose your first series of the season.
Connelly Early deserved better. Yes, Greg Weissert crapped down his leg, but the Red Sox offense is going to need to do more than this. 0-for-6 with RISP... and a .179 mark for this series.
You were able to cut down the strikeouts compared to yesterday, but just very little overall impact. Can’t be only Wilyer Abreu putting you on his back and you can’t afford dumb mistakes on the bases.

@michaelFhurley Within 2 years, ABS will make the bad umps quit. They will finally be replaced with competent umps.
Then ABS will only be relevant for 1 or 2 borderline pitches per game.

I feel like we are days away from home plate umpires simply refusing to acknowledge ABS challenges. They’ve never been held to account in front of a small group of calm reporters, let alone 40,000 rabid fans. There’s no way they can handle this.

I’m so curious how ABS will change behavior on the field.
Will catchers try to do a reverse frame to get players to burn a challenge?
Framing still can play a role in making a hitter doubt a potential challenge.
And the ump player dynamics are fascinating.

Drug possession misdemeanor charges? Sure. Other misdemeanor tickets? Sure.
Murder/Accomplice to murder? Dealing drugs while you’re set to make millions of dollars? No other coach is sticking up for that.
