We need to reorganize NHIMA, the inefficiency is just from Pluto. I contribute and my two sons also contribute for me. So 3 contributions. As a card carrying member to be told that my details are incomplete. I have used it 3-4 times and today my detail are incomplete. Surely?

@kangombe_Chris Sin Tax will not solve a thing. This is just increasing poverty as the drunkard will continue drinking at the expense of family. Take some percentage from road tax too and parliamentary sitting allowances.

Below is a list of people who should be on NHIMA on a non-contributory basis ( meaning should not pay monthly premiums but still receive medical care) 1. A person with a disability who is unable to work. 2. An elderly person above the age of 65. 3. A person classified as Poor and Vulnerable by the social welfare dept. 4. Any other person as may be prescribed by the Minister. The above is provided for under section 16 of the National Health Insurance Act No 2 of 2018. To meet the medical costs for these citizens who are not contributing to NHIMA, extra income must be provided by government through the national budget. I initially proposed that 1% of VAT revenue goes to health insurance since most citizens pay this tax. Others suggested increasing sin taxes to get more money into NHIMA. What alternative ideas would you suggest on getting more money into NHIMA ? Current premiums stand at 2% of basic pay in Zambia, while In Kenya and Tanzania, citizens pay at 5% while in Rwanda, the rate is 7%. @HHichilema Revamp agriculture like in UNIP days. In my village, we can't manage to raise that cooperative fees but if given inputs, we can payback with farm produce. FISP allocation not enough, liberalize it so that we get according to our capabilities. We used to get 100 bags plus in UNIP

My thoughts dwell on the rural woman who carries a bucket of water on her head, a bundle of wood on her shoulder, a baby on her back and a toddler holding on to her hand. Our job is to make her life better.
