@OmDaosha You sound just like the reviling women I counsel. I actually wonder if you are one of them - hiding behind your anon account - since your character so closely resembles them. Ironically, God does indeed help the people I counsel, for which I am eternally grateful.

"A continual dripping on a rainy day and a quarrelsome wife are alike; to restrain her is to restrain the wind or to grasp oil in one's right hand." (Proverbs 27:15-16) "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17) The proximity of these thoughts are not incidental. It's almost as if Solomon is telling us just how difficult it will be to deal with a Reviling Wife (RW).  We need other men to "sharpen us" in how to deal wisely and strategically with them. Notice how you cannot "restrain" an RW (27:16a) no matter how humble you may be. She's not an RW due to YOU. She's an RW due to HER. She does not operate from humility nor does she allow herself to be held accountable. You will surely be tempted to become a reviler yourself and to become bitter just like her. Don't fall for the enemy's trap. Don't isolate yourself from other strong, courageous men. You need strong men of God in your life. This is a war unlike anything you will ever face in life. Find a man who won't just sympathize with you. Certainly avoid men who say, "it's all your fault." Find a man of deep biblical wisdom who chews on (meditates on) Scripture to discern how God may wish to sanctify you through this trial - and help you forge a godly battle plan for this war - emphasis on "godly." God is WITH you men. He's not against you. Your suffering is intended to accomplish Psalm 119:71 - "It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn Your statutes." Look for it and yearn for it in your life in the midst of your suffering.

Your take is a common White Knight take. It assumes the men did something wrong to somehow "force" these reviling women to sin. You wrongly assume that these men could have somehow "prevented" their wives from sinning. This is not a biblical take, nor is it anywhere near true. It completely fails to hold the women accountable for burning down their marriages. Just so that there is no misunderstanding, they are fine men "now," and they were fine men "then" as well.

@DavidEdgington They may be fine men now, but how did they fail in the first place? Yes, our wives are guilty of their own sin, but we are responsible. How were those men leading? How did they embitter their families?

The White Knighting has got to stop. This is not bravery that you have outlined here - too much muddled thinking. Too many accusations not based on reality (sounds like you are just mad about biblical patriarchy). This is simply abdication and the irony is that it actually creates more feminism. You come across as egalitarian, but in reality you are closer to feminism (honestly, I don't believe egalitarianism even exists). You seem like a good man that does a lot of good. But you are not helping yourself with posts like this.

Step one: I’m ashamed of being a man due to factors I don’t understand. Step two: I realize now I was ashamed because of the feminism of my culture. How dumb. I delight in being a man and want to lean into the goodness of that. Step 3: I realize that the lack of good masculinity is the cause of a lot of ills in the world. I want to help remedy this problem, calling men and women to embody what God has designed them to be. To delight in it. Step 4: Men are so much better than women. It’s not lack of men stepping up that’s the real problem. It’s women. Women are the problem. Well, and men who don’t agree with me. Step 5: The best way to fix the problem is to be derogatory to women, to uncritically support all appearances of machismo and to become very rude online. Step 6: Declare victory. Say I’m winning no matter what. And whatever caricature those to my left have of me, I will struggle hard to embody. I’ll pretend I’m doing it ironically. Step 7: Shrink into an ever smaller circle of influence complaining that people just weren’t ready for my epicness. Blame the women. End up being exactly what they said I was all along. Become the best example for feminists to use against godly masculinity. The only way to win is to stop at Step 3. Steps 1 and 7 are the inverted images of each other. Stop at step 3.

Made this mistake. "Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes." For a group that calls people names frequently, I guess the word "dumb" was offensive to him. Not one engagement I've had with him has ever been a grown up conversation.
