Happy St Patrick’s Day to fellow third generation Irish Americans whose parents gave them *Irish* names that no one in Ireland is actually named. 🇮🇪

@VirginMediaNews @roy_kinsella Struggling to understand why they’re even still there. They’re not performing any useful function in the current emergency and, in a shooting war, would be massively outnumbered and outgunned. For their own safety, they should be withdrawn now.

The Defence Forces say Irish UN peacekeeping troops in Lebanon remain well and accounted for. Fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants is continuing close to where Irish troops are based. #VMNews

@Kasparov63 I hope Ukraine has already locked in whatever quid they’re getting for this quo. These guys can’t be trusted to honour a deal made in good faith because they have none.

Trump claimed that the Tomahawk missile that destroyed a girls’ school in Iran “could have been anyone’s” because the weapon is “very generic.” But weapons experts say that claim does not hold up. The Tomahawk is a U.S. cruise missile used primarily by the United States and a small number of close allies such as the UK and the Netherlands, and it is not known to be operated by Iran. Investigations by journalists and weapons analysts reviewing video of the strike say the missile seen hitting a nearby building had the characteristics of a Tomahawk, which strongly suggests U.S. involvement in the attack area. So the controversy is not just about the strike itself. It is about a president publicly suggesting the weapon could belong to “anyone,” even though the missile system is tightly controlled and used by a very limited group of countries. Is he lying again? And there it is. Trump told the Iranian people to protest and promised help was on the way. They rose up and were slaughtered by the thousands. Then Trump bombed their country, helped trigger the rise of a new, more hardline Ayatollah, and now he’s attacking the Iranian people and abandoning them.
Acyn@Acyn

Reporter: You promised the Iranian people you would help them. Trump: Will I help them? I'd like to, if they can behave, but they've been very menacing,

@eoghancorry Hmmm. The equipment types mentioned on the new Ryanair routes are clearly wrong. Apart from their Lauda subsidiary, they only operate B737 variants.

Netanyahu on how Israel is different from Iran: "Here's the difference ... these mass murderers in Tehran target civilians." Netanyahu is wanted for crimes against humanity, including the murder of between 75,000 and 186,000 civilians, at least 20,000 children or babies.

Assuming that Trump's legs are meant to be in proportion to his ridiculously oversized body, where are they supposed to go? I'm pretty sure this cockpit layout isn't regulations-compliant either...

We must trust the President, who is the first leader in history to pilot our nation with Christ himself as his steward. Americans are lining up for a first class ticket to safely deliver winning across the world.

@troublegum5 @seanwhelanRTE My issue, I guess, is that, with the best will in the world, we couldn’t even put a single Division in the field. We could perhaps commit a brigade or two to an EU Combined Arms force which would completely deplete our entire army, so a fleet of APCs is little more than a token.

@DavidFFox @seanwhelanRTE Agree there. In fairness, im not sure it is the priority. It is probably one of the most straightforward to resolve though. Hopefully we see progress on the other issues soon too though.

@DavidFFox @seanwhelanRTE Its a great solution to one of the many defence problems we have. It doesn't solve our issues at sea or in the air but it does go a long way towards modernising our army which is badly needed!

@KeithOlbermann @atrupar The insane thing is it could have been him. The sentiments are exactly what you’d expect. Obviously an impersonation, and not a particularly good one, but amusing and terrifying in equal measure.

a guy who claimed to be named John Barron and sounded a lot like Trump called into C-SPAN to complain about the Supreme Court's tariff decision and call Hakeem Jeffries "a dope" (John Barron is a pseudonym Trump has used for himself when talking to journalists)
