Dear Yankees, Want to make friends when you move to the South? Follow these simple steps: 👉🏼give your unsolicited opinion on everything 👉🏼tell folks in the grocery store line how much better it was back in New Jersey 👉🏼Yankee-splain why the locals are wrong about everything 👉🏼assume everyone is racist, bigoted, and hateful 👉🏼act like you own the place 👉🏼equate Southerner’s intelligence to how slow they speak 👉🏼treat folks as if they’re beneath you 👉🏼holler at everyone who calls you ma’am or sir 👉🏼don’t wave back or smile at strangers Southerners LOVE these things. Thanks, The NC Queen P.S. Follow me for more great tips on how to fit in with your Southern neighbors.

Listening to scanner a few weeks ago and they called out a hit on stolen vehicle. They could see that it was on the back of a wrecker but couldn’t tell what company. 2 state troopers are in route to try to intercept. Then two county units are in route. Suddenly one of the county units asks if it’s the vehicle they just had towed because it was stolen. Yes it was. Police were chasing a car on a wrecker they had just had towed to the impound. Not what I would call a major event, but was funny to hear and such a waste of time and resources. What if one of those officers had injured someone while responding to that LPR hit?

@deaflibertarian I’m ordering tea to drink. If that’s too much then they aren’t treating me to anything. I always choose a reasonably priced meal, unless it’s a close friend and we take turns paying, in which case I get the same thing I would if it was my turn to pay.

If someone is treating you to dinner, there are a few etiquette guidelines. 1) Order water unless your host specifically encourages you to order another beverage. If they order wine or cocktails and invite you to join them, it's fine to do so. 2) Avoid ordering the most expensive item on the menu. Choose something in the middle of the price range or similar in cost to what your host orders. 3) Don't add extras like appetizers, premium sides, or dessert unless your host suggests sharing them or invites you to order one. 4) Let the host lead. If they say, "Get whatever you'd like," it's still polite not to choose the priciest option. 5) Express genuine appreciation: "Thank you so much for treating me." 6) Don't argue over the check if they've clearly invited you and insist on paying. 7) Be engaged in the conversation. 8) If appropriate, offer to leave the tip if they're paying for dinner, or offer to treat them next time.

I bought a civic si back in 18. They had to bring it from another dealership. Two hours after paperwork was signed the car shows up. Older lady gets out of car, the doors lack as she heads inside. Then the car starts rolling. I ran across the lot and stopped it before it hit the building.

A customer watched in horror as their car left the showroom floor only to scrape the whole side of the car against the door. At this point the paperwork was already signed and the customer was just waiting for it to be moved from the showroom floor. I remember buying a car and they left it in the showroom instead of moving it to the delivery area to protect it. I ended up getting it a week later and when I inspected the car I noticed new scratches and a spill in the interior that wasn’t wiped up too well, I could still smell the coffee that was spilled. When I went to do the paperwork I asked what were they doing about the fresh damage. Since they failed to protect the car, it wasn’t even in the same new condition than when I agreed to purchase. I understand they were going to wash it but scratches don’t wash away. They offered me a detail but something told me that wasn’t good enough, I wanted more. Fortunately since I’ve bought other cars before from them they offered me another car but it would be a few weeks to get in. In the long run I ended up going that route, I didn’t want a new car that needed buffed out already. I am quite picky about the cars I buy and I want the least amount of damage possible, no chips or dings and swirl marks. I only take delivery on perfect cars. Is that asking too much? Or am I just being difficult. The way I see it is cars aren’t cheap and I want the best possible, can’t blame fame for that.
SonnyBoy🇺🇸@gotrice2024

So what happens when your new car is damaged when you pick it up? Do you accept their offer for repairs and that’s it? That’s all they offered me and I walked. I wasn’t about to take an even bigger hit on depreciation for paint work. I would have taken anything else like a free maintenance plan or extended warranty. Something other than just a repair, after all it wasn’t my fault they scraped the bumper off the bat. I always wondered what happened to the car wash guy since his actions costed them a sale and I had to get the car elsewhere, I haven’t been back to that dealer since, would you? I think buying a car is an exciting time and a delay and hit like that kind of ruins it. Most would have done the same thing.

MCCONNELL releases a photo - and statement. “To my fellow Kentuckians –    “When you elected me to a seventh term and made me our Commonwealth’s longest serving Senator, you did so trusting that I’d keep showing up to fight for you every day. And over the past several weeks, Elaine and I have appreciated both your well wishes and your honest questions about what was keeping me away from the Senate.   “You all know how folks of my generation often hesitate to share the vulnerability that comes with growing older. Even in the public eye, I feel that same instinct – I can’t help it.   “But at the same time, I’ve had more than my share of experience with physical vulnerabilities. Surviving childhood polio meant spending my entire life with mobility challenges. They haven’t exactly gotten easier to manage with age. And last month, I took a fall which landed me in the hospital.   “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.   “I can assure you that I’ve been a good patient. At my age, I tend to do what my doctors tell me to do. I’ve submitted to every test they can think of to help figure out what caused this incident. And I’m continuing to do everything they ask to speed my recovery. In fact, with signs of continued progress, I’ve been able to move from hospital care to a rehabilitation center where I’ll keep regaining my strength.   “As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time. And on the advice of my doctors, I won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet. But rest assured that, in the meantime, I’m not taking a break from the Senate business that matters to you. I’ve been working closely with my legislative staff on current issues, and with my Kentucky team who help me provide timely constituent services across our Commonwealth. I’ve also been keeping in touch with my Senate colleagues on the appropriations process, midterm politics, and everything in between.   “You’re right to expect your representatives to work hard for you. And part of my decision to retire at the end of my term this coming January was being honest about the demands of Senate work. But I still have unfinished business to complete on your behalf, and I have every intention of finishing the job you elected me to do.   “I’ll keep working hard to get back on the Senate floor as soon as possible. And I’ll keep you posted on the progress of my recovery. Until then, I’m so grateful for your prayers and well wishes.”

I remember plastic jugs too. My grandmother cut holes in them to hold things, but I’m almost positive they didn’t have the tamper proof ring around the lid back then. All the tamper proof stuff started with medicine after the Tylenol scare and made its way to food later. Now my motor oil comes that way. Guess I’m safe from poisoned motor oil
