He was close to joining APC but his demands were too much and weren’t granted hence why he joined ADC, not like he believes in the coalition. Moreso, he needs a party gaining traction to stop Abba. On a good day, he would have debunked accepting VP to Peter an Obi but he’s enjoying the current cheers from Obidients, it has already made his work easy in the South come 2031. Facts are stubborn.
Premier@SodiqTade

Kwankwaso joined the Coalition late after a failed attempt to join APC. He is very calculative. He will most likely end up supporting Peter Obi or Amaechi for the coalition ticket. He knows Tinubu will win them. However, he wants to create his own 2031 pathway with the South.

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu Resigns Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has stepped down from his position, signaling a major shift in the country’s power sector leadership. A resignation letter dated April 22, 2026, confirms his decision to leave office effective April 30, 2026, so he can fully concentrate on his governorship ambition in Oyo State. This development comes just weeks after the minister publicly denied reports of any such move, sparking fresh controversy over conflicting statements. In his letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Adelabu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as a rare privilege. He explained that his resignation would allow for a smooth transition while he redirects his focus to his long-standing political ambition, which he traced back to 2016 during his time at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Earlier denials by Adelabu and his media team who had dismissed a similar resignation letter as fake have now raised questions about whether the initial claims were strategic or if this represents a new decision influenced by evolving political dynamics.

Politics ya weyrey gan 😃 The small departmental politics I did it school. Contested for Gen Sec of my department. On election day. This one would enter polling room and come out, "I voted for you". The next one, "I voted for you". Another one "I voted for you". I was so confident of winning that, after voting ended, before counting started, I went to my opponent and told her, "Shade (Kolade), you gave a good fight, but I am winning this one" Counting started "Oyewale (me)" "Oyewale" "Oyewale" I was already raising shoulders then "Kolade" "Kolade" "Kolade" "Kolade" "Oyewale" "Kolade" "Kolade" Oh boy, when Insaw the trend, I waltzed to a dark area near the election hall and flagged okada. "I will not witness this embarrassment" Okada straight to Awo Hall. Jumped on my bed. My friend, classmate, roommate and agent, who was inside during counting and repping me @mhuyil was "trapped" in the collation room. When he arrived in the room like 30 minutes later, he didn't bother to tell me the result. Baba just carry kettle and do ablution to do maghrib salat 😃 Next day, I was the result pasted in department board: Kolade: 280 votes (or thereabouts) Oyewale: 240 votes. I retired from politics immediately.

What’s wrong with Atiku and who are those that are tired of the gimmicks and what’s the gimmicks. Buhari contested 4 times before he won at the 4th attempt. Atiku has only ran 3 times and 2027 will be his 4th attempt. How is Atiku’s own different? Some make attempts at something once and become victorious while some will try severally b4 they become successful. Why are you guys actually angry with Atiku? What has he done exactly? Am willing to learn

Now that Kwankwanso has pushed back the insult to him to vice Obi, what’s next? What now happens to all the banners, posters and data wasted on this failed mission of OK!! PO can not be VP to Atiku who is bigger than PO+Kwankwanso put together but you want Kwankwanso who is bigger than Peter Obi to be VP to Peter Obi. What the Obidients can’t take is what they push down the throats of others. These guys are not interested in Peter Obi’s political success. They just want Obi on the ticket so their mission to raise funds from donations during campaign is made easy. It is a no-brainer that a lot of the Obidients made money from Obi candidacy and campaign in the 2023 general election. PO can actually be on the ballot in 2027 either as Vice or main candidate but any ticket that can offer him automatic ticket gives these criminal elements automatic ticket to free funds in 2027 as done in 2023. Like I have always said, Only Peter Obi owns the key to his own political destiny. He either keeps it safe or throw it away.
Naija Truths@NaijaTruths

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has reportedly dismissed suggestions of becoming Peter Obi’s running mate, describing the proposal as “insulting.” The former Kano State governor is said to be firmly focused on pursuing his own presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections. His stance signals a likely independent run, potentially reshaping alliance talks and calculations among opposition figures.

The numbers of X accounts already created by the Obidients pretending to be Kwankwansiya, for the purpose of pushing Obi/Kwankwanso agenda is unprecedented. You want to deceive Nigeria to believe in a ticket that can’t fly beyond 500 feet before it crash lands. You think Nigerians are stupid not to know such antics? You think Nigerians will support a politicians who supporters are full of lies, controversial, manipulative and overtly predictable? Time will most definitely tell.

@WaliuTaofik Obi is not desperate to be Nigerians president, he has also said 2027 will bring his last shot at the presidency he has nothing to lose, it's Atiku that has been running since 1992 that should be worried as he would go down in history as serial loser

Atiku and Obi’s destiny is linked together. If Obi refuses to work with Atiku and Tinubu wins, it’s zoned back to the north and Obi’s shot at becoming Nigerian president is missed. Working with Atiku has a little chance of putting him in Aso rock. The chance is little😂

Former Nigerian Vice President and leading presidential aspirant under the @ADCNig, H.E. #Atiku Abubakar (@atiku), today began direct talks with key members of Congress regarding @inecnigeria, election integrity, and the current Nigerian government’s ongoing efforts to silence opposition voices and steal the upcoming presidential election. Congress and key U.S. stakeholders are very concerned. Given #Nigeria’s role in global energy supply, any actions by the current Nigerian government to rig the upcoming presidential election will impact both the global and U.S. economies. Political instability in Nigeria will magnify the security and economic instability facing millions of Nigerians and the region. —— @batten_von

COMMUNIQUÉ OF CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS OF ADC ADAMAWA STATE ON THE COLLAPSE OF INTERNAL DEMOCRACY AND WAY FORWARD ISSUED AT THE MEETING HELD ON 18TH APRIL, 2026 AT THE RESIDENCE OF HON. MIJIYEWA UMARU KUGAMA. Introduction: We, the undersigned critical stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, drawn from the three Senatorial Zones, convened to review the disturbing developments arising from the recently conducted party congresses. After exhaustive deliberations, we unequivocally declare that the actions of the party leadership at both state and national levels have destroyed internal democracy, undermined the rule of law, and rendered the party structure in Adamawa State illegitimate and unacceptable. Findings The stakeholders noted with grave concern that: The congresses conducted under the leadership of Ishaya Bauka (Rtd) were fundamentally flawed, manipulated, and imposed against the will of the majority of party members. Valid court judgments and subsisting injunctions were deliberately ignored, setting a dangerous precedent of lawlessness within the party. Party leadership engaged in systematic exclusion, imposition, and intimidation of genuine stakeholders and aspirants. The party has consequently lost moral legitimacy and can no longer serve as a credible platform for democratic participation in Adamawa State. Resolutions (Hardline Position). In view of the above, and in the overriding interest of justice, political survival, and the people of Adamawa State, we unanimously resolve as follows: 1. Total Loss of Confidence We pass a vote of no confidence on the ADC leadership at both the State and National levels for their complicity in the collapse of internal democracy. 2. Immediate and Collective Resignation We hereby announce our immediate and irreversible resignation en masse from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State. 3. Rejection of All Congress Outcomes We categorically reject the outcomes of the recently conducted congresses and declare them null, void, and of no consequence. 4. Mass Political Realignment We resolve to immediately align with a more credible and democratic political platform that guarantees fairness, justice, and respect for the rule of law. 5. Leadership Mandate We unanimously mandate Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani to lead stakeholders in determining and transitioning into a viable political platform for effective participation in the 2026 general elections, particularly the Governorship race in Adamawa State. 6. Coordinated Defection Structure A structured and coordinated movement of stakeholders and supporters across Polling Units, Wards, LGAs, and the State will commence immediately to ensure a seamless transition. 7. Mass Mobilization and Reorganization We shall embark on aggressive grassroots mobilization, political education, and structural rebuilding under the new political platform to ensure electoral victory. 8. Defense of Democratic Values We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to democracy, justice, and the rule of law, and we will resist any attempt to suppress the will of the people. Conclusion: The ADC, by its actions, has abdicated its responsibility as a democratic institution in Adamawa State. We refuse to be part of a system that thrives on injustice, impunity, and illegality. This decision marks the beginning of a new political direction anchored on credibility, inclusiveness, and true democratic ideals. Signed: Hon. Mijiyewa Umaru Kugama Convener Hon. Saidu Njobdi Komsiri Secretary

Those “Obidients” urging Peter Obi to leave ADC after the primaries may be overlooking the political implications. At this stage, exiting the party could significantly damage his political standing and may be interpreted negatively, especially in the North. A more strategic option, some argue, would be for Obi to consider a vice-presidential role alongside Atiku, which could strengthen alliances and potentially position him for broader support in a future presidential bid.
