Pointillisme was an immersive installation created by Japanese architect and designer Taiju Yamashita. The work took inspiration from the painting technique of pointillism, where many tiny dots combine to create a larger image. 24 mai 1968, les Beatles sont réunis chez George à Esher. Avant de rentrer en studio quelques jours plus tard pour travailler sur le White Album, ils enregistrent des versions acoustiques des nombreux titres qu'ils ont composés pendant leur séjour en Inde. Parmi ces titres, cette ballade de McCartney qui deviendra un standard et une œuvre symbolique du style McCartney. Dans leur tendre jeunesse, Paul et George s'exerçaient au finger picking en essayant d'interpréter la Bourrée en mi mineur de Bach. En se trompant, McCartney avait retenu un début de mélodie qu'il n'oubliera jamais et qu'il utilisera pour ce titre. Cette chanson, d'abord sans doute réellement inspirée par un chant d'oiseau puis travaillée pour en faire un message pour les droits civiques aux US, est revenue dans l'actualité dernièrement par la reprise de Beyoncé.
