He never identifies Rome as the center of the Church, never tells believers to submit to a bishop in Rome, never says the Roman church will preserve doctrinal unity, and never directs Christians to Rome for authority. ✅Fact: In Revelation 1-3, Jesus calls each of the 7 churches “the church”. Each of these churches called “the church” are independently held accountable to Jesus and to Jesus alone. They are not corporately under Rome or any hierarchical institution. They are 7 independent churches accountable to their Savior. Nowhere does Jesus compare them to Rome or allude to their affiliation with Rome or their need to be subject to Rome. Jesus nowhere says anywhere ever that “the church” in Rome is the only “the church” immune to having its lampstand removed.
