Saying the racing things out loud never gets you anywhere. But here we are. Discussing motorsports and perpetually pondering podcasting. 🏁

There will never be another opportunity like this. A new engine formula in 2028 is the perfect moment for Indycar to give the fans and the drivers what they want. V8, 1000+hp, 15,000rpm+, sustainable fuel. This is the moment. It isn’t too late to change path.
SPEED on FOX@SPEEDonFOX
F1 has promised a V8 return by 2031. Both @KevinHarvick and @wbuxtonofficial want FAST cars LOUD engines.

@BrakeHardBlog This is the same mfr that bailed out of IndyCar when they were getting smoked in CART by Firestone.. and bullied Hoosier out of Cup once they started getting Ws. Want GP wins @Goodyear? Then put a bid in on the next F1 tire cycle

.@Nike apparently created custom @Cadillac_F1 Dunk Low sneakers, but the "exclusive pairs were gifted solely to team owners Dan and Cassidy Towriss with no plans for a public retail drop," per @HYPEBEAST.

@champwebdotnet This is all true however in the DW12 era, what is the benefit of teams to field a 4th car for one offs?
None.
The inverse is I still can’t figure out what the benefit is for a DRR etc to show up once a year.
English

For those of you who have been on here for awhile, you will likely know I have been the biggest proponent of the #fastest33. Beyond the historic precedent, the tradition and respecting the drivers who literally put their life on the line to make the Indy500, removing the qualifying attempts to make the race simply devalues the very race that has brought value to this series.
Champ car and CART know all too well that without the Indy500 nothing else survives. What Indycar constantly refuses to understand is outweighing the short term vision with the long term value that is created. The hybrid engine was another short term vision that has had zero long term benefit.
So yes 2026 isn’t going to have any bumping. Every driver on the entrant list will have a place in the race. I’m sure everyone is ecstatic on the inside. But this is just another step in reducing the value of the race.
This, by a select few, will be viewed as “trashing the series” rather than taking a minute to realize the the short term decisions being made now, will have an extreme impact on the future. The decision to lock out non chartered teams is a stepping stone to the 25/8 rule. Mark my words.

@OversteerTV @champwebdotnet This isn’t true at all. There was no CART event that had the eyeballs or ticket sales to match the 500. Sponsors wanted that prestige and visibility. Yes there was a ton of mismanagement for sure but ultimately sponsors want that viewer ROI.
CART lacked the 500.
English

@champwebdotnet Bad management and reckless spending did.
Done properly Champcar would still be around and the Indy 500 would be a quaint midwest event

@Hickey93 Amazing how Honda spun the shutdown of an engineering program and introduction of a badging/marketing campaign as "expansion of Acura's involvement in racing." That kind of deceit is why I didn't last long or enjoy working public relations.
English

The smart move here by @Honda is to use @Acura as the 3rd OEM for @indycar… cost savings on R&D staff, acura can just tap the marketing budget not an engineering budget, and double the branding
Hickey@Hickey93
We went from “Honda is leaving IndyCar” to “Acura is withdrawing from IMSA and will have increased branding in IndyCar on the team that will run the Honda Charter in 2027” real fast #INDYCAR

@Tenayaway What about James Dennis Alan Hamlin or William Clyde Elliott II?
English

@NoahGragson @chasebriscoe Oh look at me MFers! I remember when racers let their finishing orders determined their wealth not their mouthpiece 🙄
English

@tonydindy Street courses USED to be slug fests. That needs to come back
English

@DRAutoart @jeff_gluck That’s a banger! You did my kids Briscoe Pocono W one. Love this!!
English

@jeff_gluck Absolutely it was. First time winner and a side by side finish. Plenty to talk about. Even if you’re not a Ty fan, he held it with the best of them and deserved this win. Just finished my victory Monday painting. Always love painting a first win

English

I was taught in journalism school ‘never give up the mic’…but they don’t know Coach Gibbs.
He’s allowed. 😊
@NASCARONFOX

English

@FreddieKraft @jeff_gluck What was that court settlement actually worth?
(More of a cocktails at the bar convo there)
English

So if you got the chance to sit down with the President of NASCAR, what would you want to ask him?
#AskODBC
English

@500Indy1911 The whole Chevy/Honda “gee. I don’t know if we can each make one more whole engine a piece” IS a bit sus, as the kids say
English

We need bumping. Period.
For the show.
Everything matters on that Sunday with 34 for those 4. And for FOX who is now part owners.
Nothing matters with 33.
Struggling to even get to 33 is embarrassing.
Building excitement and storylines is what made Indy great in the 80’s and 90’s.
