To the Peoria Unified community, Thank you to all stakeholders in the Peoria Unified School District.  It has been an honor to serve you for the past 8-years.  We have been through a lot together, accomplished much and continue to realize achievements that are reflective of a high-caliber public school district.  Your unwavering commitment to lifting-up the lives of our youth is inspiring and is shaping the character of our society and nation.   Know that you are making a difference. I am grateful for the meaningful connections that I have made with all stakeholders along the way and will forever hold them in my heart.   Although the outcome of the election wasn’t what I had hoped for, I respect and honor our democratic process. I congratulate the newly elected board members and wish them great success in their important roles. As I take some time to reflect on my eight years of service, I look forward to spending time with family and friends, leaning on my faith and seeking wisdom and guidance as I continue my journey of serving others. Lastly, I want to thank all of the volunteers who knocked on doors, made phone calls, and staked street and yard signs for me. Your gift of time and willingness to put yourselves out there made a difference.   Thank you once again to all. You have enriched my life in ways I will never forget. Hello. I’m Melissa Larance, an educator of 27 years. In today’s climate, if there is one thing that is true about public education, it is that we need advocates! People who are willing to go into the arena and equally fight for what is best for educators and learners! Thank you for giving me a moment of your time so I can share with you, without hesitation, why I endorse David Sandoval for reelection on the Peoria Unified School District Governing Board. His commitment to our district has been consistent for two consecutive terms, totally eight years volunteering. During this time he has proven to be a wholehearted leader and advocate for public education… the great equalizer in our nation. At the forefront of all of his decisions and actions, he has the best interest for learners as well as educators. Never wavering from his values or character. David Sandoval continually looks for opportunities within our district to serve and celebrate our learners… accomplishments from academic to arts education to sports to the character our learners embody. David ensures all staff feel seen, heard, and valued; he is always on our side advocating for what is best for public education even in the face of adversity. For generations, his family has built a legacy in the Peoria community. He continues this legacy by volunteering as a governing board member to ensure that the future of our community is educated well and every day they are prepared to shape our tomorrow.
