The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1947, contain Old Testament manuscripts over 1,000 years older than previously known copies. When compared to later copies, the text was nearly identical. God preserved it through the centuries, just like He said He would (Isaiah 40:8).

Hey, Prot here. Let’s fact check. Catechism of the Catholic Church 841: // The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day. // This is from Vatican II, where there’s still a big contention about in Catholicism, but let’s break it down. - “profess to hold the faith of Abraham” —> not saying they fully possess it - “together with us they adore one… God” —> about the object of worship (the Creator) - It does not say: - - Islam is true - - Muslims worship God correctly - - They have the fullness of revelation The Catechism is making a philosophical claim, not a doctrinal equivalence. Same God intended (the Creator, God of Abraham) DOES NOT EQUAL same understanding of God (they reject the Trinity and Christ). That’s the same distinction Paul makes in Acts 17:23, worshiping God “in ignorance,” not a different god altogether. “For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.” (Acts 17:23) ——- How is this different from the God of Calvinism, where people misunderstand Romans 9:13, and claim God hates unborn babies? Calvinists twist Romans 9:13 so badly that depending on how extreme they go, by your logic, you could argue Calvinists don’t worship the same God of the Bible, no different from Catholics, Oneness Pentecostals or NAR Charismatics, who use the same Bible, same appearance, but hold damnable heresies. ——- The truth is Danny, we’re all wrong about most things, and not even you are walking in perfect understanding of all things theology. Not even you and the celebrity idols you venerate like John MacArthur, who preached many heresies like there’s no real power in the blood of Jesus, are intelligent enough to claim perfect understanding of theology. For you to use this as ammunition to claim Catholics as non Christians is as dishonest and deceptive as it is arrogant and coming from a place of extreme self righteousness, something that characterizes many Reformed Baptists like yourself. Not all of course, but certainly you. Careful man, you’re positioning yourself as a judge of people’s salvation from utter ignorance, where you seem to live 24/7. I can't believe that Roman Catholics say that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. That alone disqualifies them from being Christian.
