The kids have been listening better so we were able to watch the heart of the operation. The milking parlor in action. My cousin Ed carefully massages in some lotion on one of the girls udders to keep her healthy. And I didn’t forget the calf pics.

@DavidPlace01 Part of the problem is government distortion, but the answer is not just paying hospitals less and hoping for the best. Rhode Islanders need more competition, real price transparency, fair reimbursement, and patient-first reforms that lower costs without hurting care.

Our health insurance and hospital model are the poster child for government interference.
Monopolies and vertical integration are not a natural part of a free market. They arise out of government regulation and interference in an industry.

Hospitals are gluttons, and we need to lower the amount of money they consume. The solution is to pay them substantially less, and the hospitals will have to become more efficient. They would exit lines of service that they can't compete in. @DutchRojas @mass_marion

Gerald R Ford has both large industrial size laundry machines and some smaller self-serve. Either way, a laundry room fire is a serious event and not uncommon when these units have been in near continuous use for 10 months for over 5,000 sailors.
The loss of bedding probably means the fire either spread to an adjoining compartment, there was smoke damage, or in the effort to cool bulkheads, they were doused with water.
Either way, losing berths for 600 crew, the loss of laundry facilities, is a serious casualty for a ship. Fires such as these are common on ships, but their severity and frequency do increase the longer a ship is deployed, particularly in a high optempo operation.

Following last week’s laundry room fire onboard the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), which extended into several berthings, the U.S. Navy was forced to take 1,000 mattresses off the future USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) in Norfolk, Virginia over the weekend to send to the Ford, sources tell USNI News. In addition, the Navy has also collected almost 2,000 sweatsuits and other clothing items to distribute to the crew because many sailors are unable to clean their clothes with most of the laundry services out of commission, as the tired ship heads for Souda Naval Base in Crete.

Nothing here wasn’t predicted when the Real ID requirement was passed into law. If you’re in Congress and voted for the “real ID” you are to blame for this. If you are in Congress and have done nothing to repeal the Real ID you are to blame for this. If you care about this issue and haven’t contacted your Congressional representation about repealing the Real ID you have a role to play as well.

We’re supposed to believe the Navy is ready to deter China. A war in the Western Pacific would require a much longer deployment and much higher op tempo. Im reading this is normal in the contemporary Navy. Whats the point in having a nuclear capability to go years without refueling if they can’t go 12 months without a non combat related event like this.
