I was in Sokoto for my NYSC in 2012 as a pharmacist. I was serving at the Specialist Hospital located in the state capital, with the HIV clinic at the hospital.
The entire pharmacy department had ONLY 2 pharmacists - one Hausa man who was the HOD & one Yoruba Christian man, Pharm. Stephen, who was my supervisor at the time.
Some months later, the HOD got a job with WHO & had to resign, so we had no HOD; hence, no one to coordinate & lead the pharmacy department in a big & important hospital as the specialist hospital, which was the major general hospital in the state capital.
For several months, the department didn’t have a HOD simply because they found it so impossible to make a Yoruba Christian to lead a pharmacy department in a core northern state.
Guess what? They made a store keeper who couldn’t even recognize paracetamol or doesn’t know the difference between Amicillin & Tetracycline, & had no university education whatsoever, as the HOD of the department. So Pharm Stephen had to start reporting to him.
I almost wanted to run mad. This was the most demeaning thing I had ever seen in my life.
After a few months, Pharm Stephen had to leave Sokoto where he had worked for almost 9 years & built a family to come to South West to start all over.
This was one of the many experiences that made me give up on the one Nigeria thing - it’s all a charade.

Christian students in Federal University Kashere in Gombe state have been suffering since the inception of the school. There's no single Chapel for Christian students and lecturers but there are dozens of mosques in the school. Pls @ZariyiYusufu @SpiricocoNg @lekan_olayinka1

@officialABAT "respond" that means we're just reacting to acts of terrorism, we ain't proactive in flushing these guys out, calling out their sponsors. All we do is react. Sir, you know all the people behind this. If you're not ready to do something about them, then please give way for another

I am heartbroken by the abduction of our daughters in Kebbi and the painful loss of Brigadier General Musa Uba and the brave soldiers who fell in Borno. Their families, and the families of the kidnapped schoolgirls, are in my prayers.
As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes.
I am also depressed that heartless terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. I have directed the security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi State.
I am fully apprised of the recent uptick in violent extremism in pockets across the country, and I have directed our security agencies to respond with urgency, clarity, and decisive action. Our forces need the full cooperation of every community. Sharing information can save lives and protect our children.
May God comfort the bereaved families.
Those who threaten the safety of our citizens will face the full weight of the Nigerian state.

This is the only media that the whole world needs to see right now.
For those who don’t know:
This is a chilling moment captured on video when terrorists invaded a church in Kwara state of Nigeria murdering 3people, kidnapping the pastor and several church members.

Nigeria is burning, schools attacked, churches invaded, girls kidnapped, yet no national address, no urgency.
But a state of emergency was declared in Rivers instantly over politics.
If terrorists can shoot for 40 minutes and escape, but citizens get tracked for tweets, then the problem is not capacity… it’s priority.
This government has failed.
