New Paper - @DavidRHeit's 2nd MS chapter is out! A review + mammal & bird case studies exploring nonlinearity in GLMs GLMs are "nonlinear" on the natural scale yet entail a linearity assumption, which can be confusing Read more (open access): onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Future modeling frameworks may be wise to consider not only individual-level selection coefficients, but also individual-level scales of effect.

New paper out in Landscape Ecology: The spatial scaling and individuality of habitat selection in a widespread ungulate 🦌 We found that selection coefficients varied widely, not only by spatial scale, but also by individual. doi.org/10.1007/s10980…

We fit iSSFs to white-tailed deer at 65 spatial scales, and found that >57% of the time coefficients were both positive or negative, depending on the scale.

Being inclusive doesn't guarantee we're being welcoming. We need to do more to make our campuses be both. I'm very proud of our Grad student recipients of the Kidder award and of Stonewall Grads for being recognized for their efforts. #thisisunh @UNH_GradSchool

@DavidRHeit In my first seminar this semester everyone just talked about having a pet as a fun fact...which is what I'll use from now on. Why do fun facts have to be extreme like "I go skydiving" instead of "I got out of bed on time today" lmao.

You would think after probably 45 first-days of school that I would have established a go-to 'fun fact' for ice breakers
