I understand the desire to not antagonize or contribute to polarization, but manufacturing good will for someone who would never do the same for you, and is factually wrong, is a bad idea. You cannot be that beholden to power.

@JoeConchaTV You’re not really this ignorant are you Joe? MD, PhD = doctor Also consider that Trump’s NIH & CDC Director Jay Bhattacharya is an MD, PhD who never treated patients but chose to focus on economics

Public health can’t protect people if it stops communicating. Measles. H5N1. A multistate Cyclospora outbreak. Ebola. In the past, the @CDCgov would have issued a Health Alert Network advisory to rapidly inform clinicians what to look for, who to test, and how to respond. Those alerts help frontline providers recognize outbreaks earlier and improve patient care. Where is that communication now? Outbreaks don’t become less important because we stop talking about them. Timely, transparent communication from public health is one of the most powerful public health tools we have—and we should be using it.

Early 2025, trump cut more than 3,000 jobs from the CDC, 1/4 of its workforce. They are w/o a permanent director. Jay Bhattacharya, who leads the NIH, was recently named interim director. The harm will come to people who don’t even know what the CDC was protecting them from,

Trump’s NIH Director broke a massive promise he made to us and the entire MAHA movement. Jay Bhattacharya told our Senior VP Justin Goodman, to his face, in April 2025: “I’m going to end all dog, cat, and non-human primate testing.” It was a “crystal clear promise.” WCW President Anthony Bellotti was elated. “There was no equivocation, and there was no room for confusion.” Then, under Bhattacharya’s leadership, the NIH approved nearly $150 MILLION for new dog and cat experiments. This is not funding that was simply left over from the previous administration. This is new funding that was explicitly approved under Jay Bhattacharya’s leadership. Bhattacharya and his Deputy Director, Nicole Kleinstreuer, keep telling the public they’re doing everything in their power to end funding for animal testing. But their claims could not be farther from the truth. @anthonybellotti @SciFrTheFringe @Bryce_Nickels

@DavidSandersRep @Thatsregrettab1 Agreed, however universities and their ethical committees are full about 'ethics' and claim/write a lot on how ethical they are but their actions are often completely different. So I don't really buy it.

@Spottingthespot @Thatsregrettab1 Thanks for writing. I don't know, but I was highlighting the fact that some institution seemed to regard that action as worth stating as critical. I have not seen that insistence very often in such documents.

@Thatsregrettab1 My main interest was in"Should[he]fail to ensure that these publications are corrected/retracted,this would constitute a separate violation of good scientific practice." I think that this statement is quite important;I have been arguing for such a standard for more than a decade.

@DavidSandersRep Thanks for sharing. I think they did a relatively thorough job, but I have quibbles about a few things. One broad concern: if a senior researcher has (independently identified) concerns in 3 dozen papers over almost 3 decades, who cares about “intent?”

Former CDC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deb Houry said vaccine information was temporarily restored to the agency's website during HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s confirmation process because officials believed its removal "could hurt the secretary's confirmation." @margbrennan: “So, all of these have been taken down because you're trying to comply with what the president wanted?” “Correct,” Houry replied.

When HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. demanded that the agency stop running vaccine awareness campaigns back in 2025, the chief medical officer at the time, Dr. Deb Houry, said she initially thought it was “a misunderstanding.” “It's an active flu season, it's not like flu is over. And we'd already paid for these ads, so it didn't make any sense,” she said. “And so, I brought it to our political leaders and brought it back to our communications staff, and asked them to please relay back to the department: ‘Surely this isn't what you want.’ And then, we got a note back: ‘It's a direct request from the secretary.’”
