This from my predecessor in the state senate and former Chair of the GA GOP, before the district was somehow gerrymandered in 2021 to erase the electoral evolution of this district.
Pretty weird how some folks only see something as “wrong” when the other political party does it.
David Shafer@DavidShafer
This was how the Democrats drew Georgia's then 13 congressional districts when they controlled the Governor's office and General Assembly. I do not want to hear the word "gerrymandering" from anyone who wants to put them back in power.

“When Democrats do it, it’s not gerrymandering; it’s equity”

@james_ptweets1 We have to bring our map into compliance with the Supreme Court decision. It is not optional.
English

@DavidShafer and you are ready to repeat history and get routed for your cleverness?
English

@DavidShafer 25 years ago. Dude comeon now. Ive been here 30 years. This is entirely different state now
English

@Snarkage1 No, this map was adopted in 2002 when Roy Barnes was governor and Democrats controlled both chambers of the General Assembly.
English

@1sxk1 @braves_dawgs Of course they still exist. Governor Roy Barnes is alive, well and filing lawsuits on behalf for the Democratic Party. Senator Nan Orrock was in the House Democratic Leadership then and the Senate Democratic Leadership now.
English

@DavidShafer @braves_dawgs The last time they had power 25 years ago? We just established these Democrats no longer exist. At the end of the day it was wrong then and it’s worse now
English

@1sxk1 @braves_dawgs It shows exactly what the Democrats did when they were in power.
English

@DavidShafer @braves_dawgs So why are you bringing up it up if it’s from almost 25 years ago, 4 presidencies ago? Maybe one of those members are still in congress. Also was it done in the middle of the decade right before an election at the request of Bush?
English

@hey_brock222 The map was adopted by the 146th Georgia General Assembly when the Democrats controlled both chambers and Roy Barnes was the governor.
English

@DavidShafer @DavidShafer is full of sh*t! The 151st Ga General Assembly was REPUBLICAN controlled. So what is this tweet all bout? Lies? Deceit? Getting people emotionally involved? What?
English

@E_Barcohana @nithyavraman I only know her name because Spencer stood in front of her $3 million mansion in one of this TV ads.
English

@nithyavraman You are so irrelevant nobody even knows your name

@braves_dawgs This map was adopted in 2002. Sonny Perdue switched to the Republican Party in 1998 and opposed the map. Most of the Democrats who supported the map have died, retired or been defeated. Nan Orrock supported the map and is still serving. Very few switched to the Republican Party.
English

@DavidShafer When was this? If my memory serves me, many of the Democrats from the 90's transitioned to be Republicans, including both Perdue and Deal, as well as Justice Boggs. Are any of those Democrats that were responsible for this map still serving Georgia in any capacity?
English

@ewwyougross @DavidShafer So insults instead of disputing with intelligent conversation. Typical.
English

@chiefstrategery That was the 1993 map, also drawn by the Democrats. Her district included Decatur, Macon, Savannah and Augusta.
English

@DavidShafer Hey David which one of those was the McKinney district drawn for Billy's daughter? the one that only had the center line of a couple of roads if I recall.
English

@turkeyloin It uses the Interstate to connect non contiguous areas.
English

@mitch_dog34 Nice try but every Republican in the Georgia General Assembly voted against this map.
English

@DavidShafer These were "max black" plans that black Democrats worked on with white Republicans to cram black voters into districts. When Republicans got power, they turned their guns on them.
English

@unitedBananas88 @Ansleysgarden @johnrich Electric utilities have the power of eminent domain in Georgia and data centers are massive users of electricity.
English

@Ansleysgarden @johnrich I'm confused. A data center is a private company project. It is not like a major highway being built by the government to benefit all drivers. A data center is owned by a private company to make profit.
How does eminent domain come into the picture?
English

My name is Ansley Brown, I have lived in Coweta County Georgia my entire life. Eminent domain is threatening my childhood home to supply power to DATA CENTERS. Thank you to everybody who has joined this fight with me, and I have been in contact with @johnrich

Yesterday, Carmen Bergman joined @MarthaZoller to discuss Georgia’s judicial races.
