@jaysbookman Don’t recall Justice Bethel raising money by blatantly telegraphing how he’d rule on a contentious issue while campaigning for a nonpartisan job.

@bluestein Shameful. She’s using partisan politics and concocted outrage to raise money for a nonpartisan judicial race. If elected, she might be the dumbest person to ever serve on the bench, unless ShaMiracle also gets elected and then she’ll be tied for dumbest justice ever.

Georgia Supreme Court challenger Jen Jordan draws a line between Gov. Kemp’s call for a special session to redraw political boundaries and her May 19 campaign for the bench. “We need justices who will defend the right to vote, not enable its erosion. Justices who see the law as a shield for the people, not a weapon for politicians.” #gapol

Remarkably heavy turnout from Democrats in Georgia today. Today alone, roughly 50,000 people went to vote in the Democratic primary, while roughly 35,500 voted in the GOP primary. (1300 just voted in the nonpartisan races.) That's a Dem turnout advantage of 16.5 % points today.

@DavidShafer These were "max black" plans that black Democrats worked on with white Republicans to cram black voters into districts. When Republicans got power, they turned their guns on them.

This was how the Democrats drew Georgia's then 13 congressional districts when they controlled the Governor's office and General Assembly. I do not want to hear the word "gerrymandering" from anyone who wants to put them back in power.

@megbasham @aprilajoyr ... the most amount of children graped, the most amount of money funneled to Trump, the most amount of Iranian school children killed. Meg is no Christian.

Yes, April this is correct. Casting a vote is not a signal of eternal devotion because Christians can only offer eternal devotion to one person, and that is Christ. But at the same time, a Christian should not choose the most immoral set of policies, so they should not choose the party who is promising to ensure that the most amount of babies are murdered, and that the most amount of sexual perversion is not just accepted, but celebrated. I hope this helps!

Dear Friends, An opponent in this race for Georgia’s 11th Congressional District doesn’t seem to have the power of the internet at his disposal - beyond spreading lies. He seems to think I’m a “Never Trumper.”  It’s time to explain this to him in pictures. If picture books work for our kiddos, maybe this will work for him.  I hope you enjoy this walk through memory lane with us. 🧵 1/30

Finally, there are the Tier 3 seats. These are still fairly narrow presidentially, but downballot lag makes them incredibly tough for Democrats to compete in. However, if Dems can reduce ticket splitting, then seats like these (that Ossoff is likely to carry) can be on the table.

GEORGIA STATE HOUSE THREAD: With redistricting drama now making its way into Georgia, I think it’s a good time to discuss the state of the map going into the midterms and whether Dems might actually stand a chance at winning the chamber for the first time in 22 years. 🧵⬇️

@ModerateDemocr1 Who’s voting rights have been taken away? Tell me who in America besides illegals is not able to vote? All you want is illegals voting in our elections to rig them. We are so sick of you fucking democrats with your non stop fraud.

Georgia, we must vote in the May 19 election. I usually talk about the importance of voting for Jason Esteves, but I won’t today. With news of the upcoming special session, we must be sure to vote in Jen Jordan and Miracle Rankin to the Supreme Court to protect voting rights.

A year ago, anti-war and pro-Palestinian delegates inside the Democratic Party urged the Harris campaign and the DNC to take a few basic steps: - Invite a Palestinian American speaker to address the party’s convention in the largest Palestinian city in the U.S. - Support a new policy ending unrestricted weapons transfers to the Israeli government. - Meet in Michigan with Palestinian and Lebanese American families who lost loved ones to Israeli bombs. - Issue a public statement or interview in which Harris or Walz explained how their Israel policy would differ from both Biden’s and Trump’s. - A statement outlining how a Harris administration would uphold U.S. and international law regarding weapons transfers. Every ask we made was rejected. Some delegates lost their jobs. That wasn’t just factional maneuvering. It was a real attempt to change policy. What we hit was a wall: risk-aversion, ideology, donor pressure, deference to center-left Jewish institutions still supporting unconditional weapons transfers, and Biden himself. We tried. jacobin.com/2024/11/the-le…
