The IOPC exists for one reason. To hold the police to account when they fail the public. Not to tell the public to stop talking about what they watched happen on camera. Yesterday their Engagement Director told the country to stop speculating about Henry Nowak. The same case the whole country watched unfold on bodycam footage. You cannot call eyewitness evidence speculation. He said public commentary risks PREJUDICING the process. That word is deliberate. It sounds legal. It sounds serious. But the criminal trial is over. Digwa was convicted on 28 May. What remains is an IOPC misconduct investigation. No jury. A trained professional panel deciding on the balance of probabilities. In public. Sub judice contempt exists to protect jury trials from outside influence. There is no jury here. Nothing the British public says on X prejudices that process. The IOPC has a communications role during investigations. It doesn't include telling the public to stop talking about what they witnessed. So here's what they should be doing instead of managing your reaction. Explaining why three officers are still on active duty with zero restrictions six months after Henry died. Explaining why one resigned before the investigation concluded. Explaining when this ends and what accountability actually looks like. That's their job. Investigating the police. Not policing the public. The country watched what happened to Henry in four minutes. The IOPC has had six months. Stop telling us to be quiet. Start doing your job.

‘Would you take the knee for Henry Nowak?’ ‘I think… no.' @NickFerrariLBC confronts Deputy PM David Lammy on the ‘double standard’ of his reactions to Henry Nowak and George Floyd.

🚨 David Lammy, caught on LBC when asked if he’d take the knee for British stabbing victim Henry Nowak: “I think… no. Because, look, I don’t think the family are asking for symbolism. They’re asking for genuine common sense policing and a reduction in knife crime.” Yet this is the same Lammy who was all-in on BLM knee-taking for George Floyd. Symbolism only when it suits him? 🔥 #NickFerrari #DavidLammy #KnifeCrime

It will all be quite hilarious, if after all his manoeuvring, Burnham is beaten to the leadership by Starmer.

“Wes Streeting seems to have launched a leadership contest, so if that is running, I would seek to join it” Labour’s Andy Burnham confirms that if elected, he would run against Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a Labour leadership contest #bbcqt

"Get normal people in politics, people who care about the place... and not use it as a stepping stone for other things" Reform UK's Robert Kenyon says less “career politicians” would “certainly help” politics, saying people in Wigan have been “left behind” #bbcqt

Are we sure the Green candidate is actually Green? Labour bob defected. #bbcqt
