It’s gross when podcasters promote by bleeping out a word to get you to engage. I’m tired of this engagement bait bullshit. It’s everywhere!

@jeffrey_way @adamwathan I’ve never understood the whole-app-in-one-shot argument. The results are always significantly worse than building with a multi-shot approach. People don’t necessarily need to learn to code as much, but they should absolutely learn how to build effectively.

The “I just one-shotted an app” garbage on social media is pure fiction. There are endless steps to get something officially out the door and available to the public.

If you feel extreme AI anxiety related to your programming job security, I’ve found it helpful to remind myself that, even with the help of agents, it’s an *immense* amount of work to build, tweak, test, and deploy a new app.

@ChanningAllen These kids are booing like they didn’t use AI to cheat themselves out of an education. Even so, humans are adapting machines. I’d invert your number. 9/10 will adapt.

Today's Luddites are in the universities, not the factories. Booing Eric Schmidt is like booing gravity. The forces behind AI are now bigger than Schmidt and bigger than Google/OpenAI/Anthropic. Maybe 1/10 of these students will adapt & land on their feet. As for the rest?

Every book builds on top of the last one. The more books you read, the more valuable they become.

here's how the whole "taste" trend is gonna go everyone is gonna talk about taste and then apply it by being opinionated about their products "i craft the perfect experience" and it's going to narrow the products audience to the point of not being sustainable

@tonkapark @jeffrey_way Thanks! The thing to remember is that these models are getting better every day. Comprehension is vital, I agree, but it’s changing. These tools are shifting the software engineer’s locus of control to a higher level of abstraction.

Folks don’t want to hear this, but my guess is, in a year, you won’t look at the code your agent writes at all. Doing so would be both beyond your ability and pointless.

I just used Basecamp's new CLI, and it's so damn good! The CLI + skill combo is killer. Worked out of the box with Claude Code.

@valsopi We agree on honesty. The issue I’m wrestling with now is understanding that these social platforms are actively working against it. Worse, they redefine what honesty is.

@DavidVII I was pointing out that most people focus on the superficial when presenting themselves to the world So when we present ourselves to the world it's good to know that impression is necessary, but it has to come from an honest place

When comparing yourself to others, know that while you’re trying to embody your honesty, most are focusing on making an impression. Lesson here is to acknowledge that presentation/impression is important, but make it a genuine extension of your honesty and not a fabrication

@valsopi Having a role model is one thing. But, to borrow some wisdom from Teddy Roosevelt, “comparison is the thief of joy.” Especially on these social platforms that make it seem like everyone is killing it.
