Tonight is the FINAL council assembly before the local elections. We will be putting the record straight about how Labour have failed Southwark - and putting forward our positive plan to Fix Southwark.

In a huge win for our Dulwich Village Lib Dem team - a feasibility study into upgrading North Dulwich station will now be funded. We've consistently campaigned on this - but when given the opportunity, Labour councillors voted against this TWICE.

Tonight we scrutinised the council’s self-congratulatory end-of-term report. But residents know the reality: the housing service rated by the regulator as failing, repeated Ombudsman maladministration rulings, repairs problems, safety backlogs and major works overspends

V. useful to attend part of the #Southwark Homeowners Conference. Leaseholders are beyond frustrated, many are furious. It’s an excellent forum for knowledge sharing & collaboration, plus pushing for real solutions to the mess many leaseholders face. Hats off to the organisers.

A political earthquake could be on the cards in Southwark. The papers say Labour could lose control of the council. Change is within reach.

Delighted to join residents for the unveiling of the new railings at Lant House funded through Neighbourhood CIL secured by @swklibdems councillors. We secured £4.1m for Borough & Bankside so it is reinvested in our neighbourhoods. Huge thanks to Jo and everyone involved.

Today, I defended your right to a fair trial by voting against the government’s Courts and Tribunals Bill, which seeks to erode the right to a jury trial for a number of serious offences that carry sentences of up to three years. The Justice Secretary has put his fingers in his ears, despite the entire legal sector sounding the alarm, that scrapping jury trials will do absolutely nothing to bring down the spiralling court backlog and threatens a cornerstone of our justice system. I will now seek to amend the bill on the bill committee, which will take place after Easter.

Phone snatching is an epidemic across London - but Southwark hosts some of the worst hotspots in the capital. Liberal Democrats have a plan to tackle crime and ASB in Southwark - double community safety wardens, invest in CCTV, and give our young people more opportunities.

Council tax in Southwark has gone up every year under Labour. A typical Band D bill has risen from £1,692 in 2023 to £1,967 in 2026 - nearly £300 more a year. Meanwhile services are harder to access & complaints up. Southwark Lib Dems would freeze council tax for the poorest.

In Southwark, diversity is our strength. We are not an "island of strangers" as Keir Starmer claims, and we will not let Reform divide us. Southwark Liberal Democrats are proud to have a team from all over the globe who call Southwark their home!
