@DavidWearne7 @DoodyDarren @SenMcDonald There is no exploitation.
You’re taxing business advice from him

English

I agree with you, but that's my point entirely. The resources are owned by the Australian people, past, current, and future. We need something in place so they cannot be exploited by anyone or any entity into the future without Aussies getting paid what's fair and reasonable. With a flat fee, i.e., that royalty across the board, any exploitation has to work out economically, and if it doesn't, it stays in the ground. No exceptions. My strong belief is that as the owners of the raw material, we should not be dictated to buy international pricing, treaties, tax regimes or anything else, and in fact, we should be able to borrow against our raw materials even when they are in the ground to develop the processing plants and the independence that would come with that.
English

@DavidWearne7 @DEIONBOARDER @SenMcDonald That effectively locks in the price, likely disadvantaging us (the raw material owners), due to inflation.
It's also the reason something like the PRRT exists. When global prices spike for any reason, the company benefits but we do not.
English

@ThomasSowell this level of incompetence is actually frightening
English

@DavidWearne7 @DEIONBOARDER @SenMcDonald Even if the royalties don't remain at a fixed price, they will always be the price paid for the resource being exploited.
To be fair, they should perhaps be a percentage of the price it is sold for, with protections against deliberate underpricing.
English

@DEIONBOARDER @DoodyDarren @SenMcDonald Hey Dr., lighten up man .... Darren is spot on and that's because fair and reasonable royalties can remain fixed, whereas taxation regulations will change with successive governments for different Industries.
English

@DoodyDarren @DavidWearne7 @SenMcDonald All that money goes to governments. That’s what you want. Isn’t it?
English

@Michael_Yoni64 @Ryandally08 Yes, correct, just like our current prime minister, I didn't have a clue, and I was very out of touch!
English

@DavidWearne7 @Ryandally08 Really smart of you not checking with the school requirements about compatibility if the computer.
English

never mind, if they are deemed unviable just invest in something else.... I call for 15% royalty on all natural resources. Each industry can argue then argue with successive government about the tax blah blah. So if a new project is not economically viable because of it, leave the resource in the ground......
English

@SenMcDonald blah blah blah blah blah.. I call for fair and reasonable royalties on all Australia's natural resources!!!
English

I’ve been in a gas tax Senate Inquiry this week, and it’s clear activists are trying to use tax to end fossil fuel projects. We’ve heard selective data and misleading narratives to downplay the contribution resources make to our economy. #SkyNewsAustralia
English

@CJPomfret @SenMcDonald I'm suggesting 15% royalties; Taxation is another matter.
English

@DavidWearne7 @SenMcDonald 15% is embarrassing. You know that Japan buys our gas and sells it again for more profit than we make? Norway claim a 22% corporate tax and then a 56% special petroleum tax. That’s 78%! Meanwhile our gov gives up $17 billion per year of our money while it cuts services.
English

My Reckoning is that the tax argument is a diversionary talking point to prevent discussing and identifying the reality of the royalty issue. A couple of hundred years ago, the kings and queens said to their admirals, "Here's a bunch of boats go out into the world and plunder," and nothing has changed!
English

@DavidWearne7 @SenMcDonald I reckon it's all a complete fukn disaster how it's all setup!
Remember that fuk Ferguson that done the last major royalties agreement, reduced it then took the golden escalator as a director with British Gas a couple of years later.
But that tax i mentioned inc royalties atm
English

@Sharpe75299870 @SenMcDonald A fair and reasonable royalty on natural resources is not a tax! If it's not economic enough for a company to pay the royalty, then leave it in the ground! My bet is that they're making so much profit that would never happen.
English

@DavidWearne7 @SenMcDonald Its a bit more complex than just adding another 15% to the already 44% tax. This is for Woodside for example. I checked BP Oz financial rep when they closed Kwinana refinery in WA and tax/royals was around 40% for them too and gov wouldn't budge, so they closed it!

This is an excellent summation by @sjkokinda of @PrometheanActn re: British control over Australia and what President Trump is doing to exert economic freedom from the Crown for Australia & other sovereign nations that have had their growth stifled for centuries.

@strangerous10 pathetic..... could have , and should have asked Grok... or any AI ... useless
English

David Pocock beside himself as Shell’s Cecile Wake insists she doesn’t know Shell’s revenue, or how much gas they export, while she fronts an inquiry on Gas Exports.
Sarah Hanson-Young: “What did you think we were going to be asking you about today?” 🔥🙄 #auspol
